This isn't a debate. It's rational people vs. bigots. And I don't debate issues that are fact, it's pointless.

Reasons why gay marriage should be legalised

-It's no one's business (If they wanna get married, what does it have anything to do with you? So what if it's a guy/guy or girl/girl marriage? Are you going to die or suffer from same sex marriages? No.)
-They are entitled to their human rights (Although the universal declaration of human rights does not specifically mention same-sex marriages, it does say this: "Men and women of full age, without any limitation due to race, nationality or religion, have the right to marry and to found a family. They are entitled to equal rights as to marriage, during marriage and at its dissolution." Equal rights. The UN declaration is something that applies to everyone, including same-sex couples. It does not once mention that gay people are not entitled to the same rights.)
-Denying gay couples the right to marry is discrimination (It's basically saying "I'm a homophobe. Homosexuality is wrong, you are not a person with the same rights as me. We are not equal, you are inferior and you are a second-class citizen. What have homosexuals ever done to you to deserve such treatment?)
-It benefits the homosexual community (Physically and emotionally. They'll feel accepted and they won't feel so alone. They'll have a partner with them. It's the same as how heterosexual marriages allow you to feel loved because you "belong" with someone)

Of course I do. I cannot understand why it hasn't been legalized in every country.

Homosexuality was accepted as 'normal' in Roman and Greek times. It is only in modern times that gays have had to 'hide in the closet' or come out fighting for gay liberation against the oppression of the homophobic society. Now that is what I call REGRESS.

Agreed. I have the right to be as miserable as any straight person, by marrying someone.

That's rather ignorant to say. You don't win discussions or debates by simply labeling everyone who disagrees with you as a "bigot". Granted, some people are against the marriage of homosexuals for purely because "i hate fgts lolz", but there's also fact that the concept of 'marriage' is mainly a religious one that has clearly stated since the beginnings that marriage is exclusively a union between a man and a woman. Nowadays, it's also a government recognised legal contract which exists because many believe a 'family unit' - consisting of a married man + woman who produce children are the cornerstone of every society. Obviously, this is flawed because there's nobody against infertile couples and elderly couples marrying, I know.

I'm not against gay people marrying, btw, I think gay couples should have the same legal rights and entitlements as straight couples, I just know it's not as black and white as being bigoted vs rational.

I'm for it. Love is love whether its between two guys, two girls or a guy and a girl. Marriage is the same principle to me. Its something everyone is entitled to whatever their sex.

Maybe not. But in this case I can't think of a better way to put it than that, simply because there's no good justification as to why homosexuals shouldn't be allowed to marry.

Down with marriage, up with private contracts enforcable by a governing entity. People don't deserve special treatment under the law for being in a relationship. End the discrimination towards single people.

Lol, this is the only topic I've ever said that on, because like the others have said, there is no single good argument against it. And it's true, because I don't think there's anything to debate or discuss on this subject.

It may just be because I think organized religion is pointless, but that's just a stupid concept. While there will never be a time where there's no one against gay marriage, you really can't fight it at this point. We are slowly becoming an accepting society as more and more young people are born and raised to not discriminate. Gay marriage will be legal, the only matter is when.

I agree, gay marriage will be legal all over the US in time and it's about to become legal in the UK too (although civil partnerships have been legal for a while), but people do have their reservations about it, and it's not all necessarily because they're homophobic, but because they worry about the "slippery slope" it might cause - allowing polygamy, incestuous marriages, etc. It might seem silly, but when the boundaries change, there will be other people who will try to stretch them more.. this is why there was a bill put forward in the U.S. a few years ago about the federal definition of marriage to be strictly between a man and woman who aren't related, obviously it never made it through, but this was one of the arguments for it.

The label of "homophobic" shouldn't just be slapped on anyone who happens to disagree with or question something relating to gay rights. It's the same thing as calling someone a racist or xenophobic simply because they support strict limits on immigration and it doesn't really allow for a proper debate.

The government doesn't control marriage, the debate over gay marriage is about whether the government will recognise it in the same way as straight marriage which is controversial.

And since marriage is effectively a government recognised legal contract, I think you'll find it is 100% the business of the government too, like it or not.

I'm for it. But to be honest, I hate they way this post is named. Why does it even need to be called something different? If a gay man buys a cr, does he drives his gay car to work everyday?

It's marriage and I'm for it.

In Canada, they don't have gay marriage. They just have marriage, and of course it includes gays.
America, being the theocracy that everyone is making it, has decided that the ideals of one religion are going to be imposed on the whole motherfucking nation. Cool, bro.
This isn't a controversial issue. It's a stupid one. Why is this dispute even happening? Oh, right. Bigots. So, y'know, keep voting those assholes into office. You're making your granddaddy proud.
