I've been really close friends with this guy for about a year and a half, and recently he asked me out, its been great, i've never been happier, however there's one thing bothering me, i'm 15, in year 11, and he's 17, in upper 6th form. He's not pushing me into anything sex-wise and said he would never do that, but is the gap acceptable and if we did want to take it further would it be illegal? :what:

That gap is fine to me. I don't see anything wrong with a 3 year gap if the oldest person is 17

Seems good enough for me. If ur insecure about it, though, talk to him about it.

I see nothing wrong with a few years' difference.

There is no problem, unless he forces you into anything serious like sex. Then it can be illegal. I would like to say that my Grandmother is 9years older than my Grandfather. It seems awkward but it's fine.

It's fine to me. You're both minor anyway so it's not like an adult and a minor

There would be nothing wrong with a couple of years. Just be careful when there is a gap, because there can always be the pressure to grow up quickly

Anyway, the age gap is pretty acceptable

I'm 15, my boyfriend is 18. When i was 14 i was with guys who were 19. Also i've been with a 24 yr old.
Personally i'm ok with it as you can see. But there's always the statu-s-something rape thing. My parents used to threaten me with this. They would threaten to call the cops on my boyfriends because of the age difference. I don't trust my parents anymore to tell them if i'm dating someone anymore.

Hopefully your parents are more understanding...

That's a perfectly fine age gap. Especially because he's not trying to pressure you into sex.

Theres nothing wrong with that age gap atall :) As longs as your both happy thats all that matters. and as for the sex thing its illegal and in my opinion I think it would be better if you both waited that way you would love each other more when you do do it. :)

2 years is nothing, at worst your date will be teased a bit about dating someone in a younger grade, but that gap is beyond reasonable ^_^

That's a perfectly acceptable age gap, it's actually a pretty common one too. As for taking things further however, as you are under 16 it's technically illegal for you to have sex and so because he is olde he could get in trouble for having sex with you. It's unlikely he would unless you reported it, and it's unlikely anything would happen as you are in a relationship. But never the less I'm pretty sure technically it would be illegal for you to do anything with him.

That age difference is fine! When me and my boyfriend first got together he was 18 and I was 15. There's about 2 and a half years between me and my boyfriend, there's nothing wrong with it.

Under 16 sex is illegal full stop, but as has been said, unless you reported it he wouldn't get arrested or anything. The only time the police would be majorly bothered is if you're under 16 and he's over 18. Even then though the chances of anyone being bothered enough to report it is tiny.

No. Under 16 is perfectly legal as far as sex goes. In most places the age of consent is 16, which doesn't mean you can't have sex. It just means that you can't have sex with some one over 18 if you are under 16.

So at the moment, it would not be illegal for you to have sex. Just if your boyfriend turns 18 before you turn 16 it would be illegal. 2 years is an acceptable age gap, in my opinion :)

Lower age limit = (17/2)+7 = 15.5

You're barely in. But you're in.
