Its a phishing scam, I get them all the time at the moment i dont advise opening the emails just delete them straight away. They're made to look legit in order to get people to believe it.

Its not your email address they want, they'd be trying to get your account off you. Most accounts like that have some sort of card attached to them to pay for subscription etc. So obviously, you see that, panic, sign in and vola.. Bye bye account.

Getting hacked on Runescape sucks. I somehow got my password stolen, I logged on one day and all my stuff was gone. I have no idea how somebody got my password but they did. Runescape password stealing has been really common lately. I've been playing for 5 years and it was never as popular as it is now.

Most of the time, all emails you get about something happening to your account from the company, is almost always a scam to get personal information out of you. If you navigate through each game company's site, they usually tell you their form of contact if they ever need to. However, they almost NEVER contact you in any way shape or form unless you contact them first.

I get these all the time. Sometimes they make no sense at all. I once got one for WoW (which I don't play) and the grammar was so bad it was almost impossible to understand.

Hence, it's obviously a scam, and you shouldn't open it. I get scams in my VT email all the time, and I don't believe any of it.

It's actually a link to the official RuneScape website.
Looks like that email was actually legit.
It could be that someone used your email to register for RuneScape, or it could just have been a mix-up in the email server. You never know.

I do play Runescape but I've been getting these emails on/about accounts that aren't linked and aren't even used on any websites in some cases, who knows what's going on. As long as you're careful nothing bad can come of it.

Part of the new system, all new accounts now need to be created with an email address as the login and all old account are recommended to register an email.

Yeah, it's probably a scam. Runescape never sells accounts. The trick is not to go to any sites that offer free runescape accounts or other things related to Runescape. Rule of thumb, if it seems to good to be true, it isn't true.
