Two months without cutting yet the urge never goes away, No matter what i do i can't beat it, It's amazing how strong the urges get, To the point i have a blade touching my skin but somehow i stop.. I promised so many people i wouldn't, I can't go on, I'm dying to cut one last time. Help. Has anyone got any tips? Rubber bands and drawing don't work =/

Cutting one's skin releases hormones which provide a sense of relief and sometimes pleasure. Like anything else that messes with your body chemistry, you can get addicted to the feeling.

Anyway, Steph, you know this isn't worth it. Two months without is amazing! There will be urges, sure. They get really bad, I know. I've had nights where I've been under so much stress and craving it so badly that I've actually gone through physical withdrawal. But once you get past the hard part, it does ease up. The urges will still be there but you'll be better equipped to ignore them having already done so. You can do this! You get stronger with every urge you ignore. :)

I used to like cutting paper snowflakes. It actually really helped me. I was calmer when I had the scissors in my hands but I was redirecting the urges to paper rather than my skin. Only try this if you're comfortable with handling anything sharp when you're like this. Some people aren't.

Another thing, have you tried holding ice cubes to your skin? That's supposed to be really helpful.

It's the feeling of release when you cut, The feelings of numbness, Believe it or not it's VERY addicting.

*gets out the pompoms* You can do it! :bounce:

(Yes, that was totally just an excuse to use that smiley.)

Anyway, if you need someone to chat with, I'm around. ^_^ Seeing as you can't PM yet, all my contact info is on my profile.
