So my dad has been in prison for over 9 years, and he's been moved to a low security spot for a few months, but he has unlimited access to a phone and the internet. Anyways, he asked for my phone number to call me, and it took me almost 2 hours to type out the number in the email because i am so nervous. But talking to anyone on the phone right away become nervous i much prefer texting. Anyways i am so nervous about him calling me! Ive only talked to him twice a year through letters, and thats it. And ive only met him like 3 times when i was really young like 6 years old. Im 18 now. But has someone been through this to know what its like? Im so worried and i dont know what to say when he calls, im really scared. Any ideas?

Also another situation is i have a little sister who is 10 that ive never met, and he keeps telling me to call her, and shes been sending me little letters and stuff. And im kinda in the same situation! I dont kow what to do!!!! What am i gonna say if i call her and ive never met her, i know nothing about her!

Someone please help me. Im so stressed out!!!!

Conversation starters over the phone, the current generation's issues as we have all been sucked into texting. There is no wrong way to say things to someone you haven't talked to over the phone of met. I suggest simply starting off basic with the normal greetings and how are things kind of questions. Initiate conversation even if it is small talk. And if all else fails you and you can't strike up anymore small talks, just be honest and say "I don't know what to talk about, any ideas?" Your dad im sure will be more than happy to throw out questions to you.

In all honesty, i can't exactly help with the sister issue as i don't have one myself and i haven't had that problem b4. Neither the dad in prison thing, but i have been in your shoes about the all text no phone call. But its a phase you grow out the more you get calls, the more you grow to like it more.
