This just makes me so angry. Just like Jamey Rodemeyer last month, don't these kids even stop and think about the grief that their parents are going through?

Yes, I realize that being young and gay is no walk in the park. But suicide is never the answer. High school doesn't last forever.

Another? Damn... we really need to stop this...

It may seem selfish but you don't know what's been going through these kids' heads up until they do it. If they think there's something wrong with them or something along the lines of that, they may think they're doing everyone a favour. It could be anything. I'm not saying it makes sense but they did what they thought was the only option.

I don't really have any experience with homosexuality. I'm asexual but I can certainly understand some of the isolation from having a different sexuality. It can be very isolating. High school alone can be a tough enough time without having your sexuality be another source of stress.

It's horrible that these kids have thought their only option was suicide though... there is help out there. :/

Yes, Exactly. This is what they want. They bother these people to no end just because of who they are. If it stops being in the news so much, they won't get attention, and will have no reason to do it, (as much).

This is what we don't see till it's too late.... It kills me to know that someone out there could of prevented this, someone could of helped him. Just someone...

You're being an asshole and a lot of members on this site really won't take kindly to that sort of attitude.

They already feel like they can't say anything about themselves because everyone will pick on them. Everybody has the right to express who they are, and rules should go after the people that hinder that freedom, not the people making use of it. You're part of the problem that leads these kids to kill themselves.

Kid, how fucking BLIND are you? Do you not realize how lost these teens are? You just want them to "go straight" and forget about it? Really? Seriously, this has got to be the most bigoted and ignorant statement I have ever read on this site. How would you like it if you felt like you couldn't tell someone a secret? How would you feel when people of your own sexuality are seen as some sort of unclean inferior beings? You would feel pretty fucking shitty, I can tell you that. I felt that way for about two years before I came out. So you're saying that teens who identify themselves as part of the LGBT community are just trying to get attention? How fucking dare you? I mean, really, you can't let them be happy? You just want them to be straight and be "normal"? And yes, I'm fucking mad.

Unbelievable, its people like you that that piss me off. Your a narrow minded person who can't understand that someone who is gay, just can't become straight. School is a place of education, THAT IS IT. It shouldn't be a place were kids who are different fear. We need to accept everyone for who they are.

Spires, it just doesn't work that way. When I realized I was gay, I tried to make it go away. When I finally figured out that wouldn't work, I just accepted it, and everything was fine.

As to our departed Canadian brother, well, maybe he would still be with us if he had stayed in the closet. We will never know. But I know for a fact that being openly out in high school just opens the door to possible problems. I am very careful and hardly any of my straight friends know my secret. It does help to be very straight acting, LOL.

"Unless you're gay, in which case you should shut the fuck up"
I challenge anyone who thinks you can just "turn straight" to just turn gay for a day. Maybe even a few days. After all, it's pretty easy, isn't it?

I'm not ignoring obviously ignorant statements. Have you no consideration of the trials that a young gay person has to go through? Do you have any inkling of an idea of how the whole of society REJECTS YOU? No, you don't. Get off your god damn high horse you ignorant fucking retard.

It's not something you do. It's something you are. That's like telling black people to not be black or women to not have vaginas. And it's only a burden because of primitive assholes who pick on people over things they have no control of.

These kinds of things make me sad, I don't understand why kids resort to suicide. I had a friend(who is no where near fat, infact he was rather skinny) shoot himself because his dad(who is extreamly overweight) kept forcing him to lose more weight and to do al the things his dad couldn't do for him. Eventually he got to the point where he couldn't take it anymore and shot himself. His grandpa, who I know and talk to often now, found him the next morning. I feel so bad for his grandpa knowing that he was in the house when it happened. People need to understand that suicice isn't the only option, I was suicidle for a bit because I was depressed. Then I thought about what I could make out of my life and how I am to young to die and what I would do to my family. So this kid made the wrong decision, but he made his final decision. So there is nothing to change about this. I give my thoughts out to the family of this kid.

the gay people in our society don't make it a burden on themselfs, it's society that makes it a burden on them. being gay isn't a wrong decision(unless you go to the south, then your fucked)(i lived in texas for 2 years, the gays got screwed over everyday, and the special education people got made fun of all the time)

I think this is sad, that guy had so much potential in his life. From the news he seemed like a good person.

We do need to stop putting these in the media as its not right, yes it give awareness but it can also triger more suicides.

and Spires I think you need to grow up people cannot turn there sexuality on and off like a light switch . Its just no right at all.

many people need to relize that we now live in a society where people of diffrent sexualitys are welcomed and its only igronant people who are holding world wide acceptance back.

I hope more people dont commit suicide but again until some people in this world wake up and smell the coffee we will see more. Being gay is not a crime and people need to see that and accept.

Its a shame this boy had to commit suicide and I hope in death he finds peace.

This thread is going nowhere from here. :locked:

Some members have received infractions and I'd like to say that VT is a place that doesn't tolerate insulting other members. No matter what side of the argument you are on, it's not allowed. That's that.
