Ok you know how Sunday is like the day of Jesus and living in the western world its the prodominant religion which means where I am anyway EVERYTHING is fucking closed on Sunday!! God forbid its the day of Jesus so getting milks a sin
Now i'm not a religious man but I have no problem with other people practising whatever religion makes them happy we live in a free world that we fought hard to earn.....But who the fuck are you to turn your views into my laws! (allot of areas bussiness are not allowed to be open on sunday)
Its not even supposed to be sunday the sabbath is supposed to be on a Saturday they changed it cause it wasent convienant
add that to the fact that the majority of people work from monday to friday and in the oilfeild espically its REALLY long hours like waking up at 3am and not being home till 9am the next morning...rather common working weekends etc... so when you finally do get time off how come you cant do any errands or get food have some fun etc... because god forbid you do something on sunday

....opinions?

I don't think a business should be forced to close on Sundays by the government but if the owner of the business is religious and wants to be closed on Sunday then he or she has every right to do that.

Religious or not Sunday is an understood "off day."

I don't think it's that bad. I mean it's just an off day, what other day would it be? Oilworkers are abused yeah but I still think that it's fair to have one day off on Sunday. I'm not religious in any way, shape or form but I still sit around and do nothing on this day.
I haven't heard of any law when businesses aren't supposed to be open on Sundays...but still, there's gotta be an off day and Sunday is a good day because it prepares you for the start of the week of work. :|

This is funny the way you are forced to close on a Sunday. Like supermarets, newsagents and in the cities, shops are generally open on Sundays. Where I work we only close Christmas Day. Which is weird seeing as we live in a pretty Catholic country, would imagine more days.

The only laws we have with Sundays is the sale of alcohol. It cant be sold till after a certain time, which I can't think of at the moment.

I think it should be at the decision of individual businesses if they stay open or not.

In the US, alcohol can't be sold until after 2 pm or noon (not sure which one), on sundays.

Sunday is just an off-day. like, after a hard weeks of work, you should get a day to rejuvenate. so most businesses do that, because it is traditional.

people who are not Christian may believe that. Christian's may believe something different.

if it is a family owned business, they have the right to close whenever they want. But here, things are open on sundays...but it might just cloe earlier because sundays tend to be a day with the family.

If things weren't closed on sunday, when would anyone get a break? Don't be so ignorant as to forget about the guy behind the gas station cashier, or the man who sells you groceries? Hell, how would you like it if you had to go to school 6 days a week instead of 5? Would you enjoy that? I didn't think so.

Besides, Anthony summed it up, it's an understood off-day. Live with it.

I was homeschooled i worked on it 7days a week
and in many countries you do go to school 6 days a week
and ya i have no problem with them wanting a day off
thats why you mix it up some people work sunday and they get days off during the week while the ones who get sunday off are working

its not hard

and dont bitch to me about work child
I live in Alberta
labour laws dont apply to the oilfeild

I've worked insane hours

and thats easy for you to say
living at home with your mommy buying everything
but when you work CONSTANTLY and you never have any time off you leave at like 4am and dont get bck till 10-11 most days how the hell do you buy grocerys so you can eat?

Its fing retarted

Cody, EVERY store in your town is closed on Sunday?

I know everywhere I've lived the grocery store is open. I would be frustrated too if it was Sunday and there was no convenient way of getting groceries.

I think it's 'fing retarded' that you find out my age and assume you know everything about how I live.

Edit: Oh, and don't call me child, I find that rather rude and hateful.

you find the word child rude and hateful? for someone who likes to slam people in debates u sure can't take much

and age has everything to do with it because you simply dont understand how much it utterly sucks untill you live on your own and cant get anything done cause god forbid its the day of jesus

personally i would LOVE to work sunday
if it ment i could have a day in the week off

but if i work sunday its because its so busy i work straight through no days off period

I don't recall any 'bashing' of anyone in any debate, we all say things like 'Bitch' in debates, it's part of the fun; a competetive nature. However, I find 'child' to be simply rude. What do you say when you want a woman to hand you a newspaper? "Pass me a paper, woman." Honestly now.

Besides- I can clearly take a word, your just a username on a website to me, it's the least of my problems. I dont even see how whether a person can 'take it' or not could affect one's decision to be rude.

Thank you FAtUM for being such an exemplary moderator, we appreciate it. Besides, you still haven't pointed out a single time I've 'bashed' or swore at a person. Also, I find it hypocritic that you tall me to stay on topic, you're the one who brought up 'bashing members in other threads'.

Edit: But, since you care so much O Mighty Moderator, I will remain on topic. What's the problem with things being closed on Sunday? If its such a pain to your schedual, you honestly need to organize your week better. I'm sure theres more than enough time to pick up some groceries. Do it on Saturday like the rest of us.

You think i'm a good global mod?!?!? Meeee!! Awwwww! Why thank you sweetie!! God I could just kiss you! :hug2:

I'm following your rules you said its okay to swear it makes it "fun" I'm just not allowed to say words like child which I didn't
I wasen't swearing at you before but you said its okay
besides you started it! -sticks tounge out-

i'm waiting for you to bring up an argument against a bussiness having the option to remain open on Sunday

Or do u have one?

If all you want to do is yell at me than you can PM me
Cause your right I should probly lock this
but i'm not going to because i'm involved and it would be a conflict of intrest and unfair to you
it would appear that i was trying to silence you
even though i wouldn't be

best to just avoid
so no mod abilitys :D

as far as me getting in trouble
probly
but i've had such a shitty month
i no longer care

but honestly for the second time from one member to another
keep it on topic please

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Aww sweet you edited
your on topic!! DUDE YOU RULE! High five!
okay see the problem is I live in Northern Alberta aka I work like 90% of Albertans in the oilfeild
see I'm an industrial fire fighter yess dear padiwan its my job to save peoples lives and equipment that could buy a small country
Now the Alberta Labour Laws don't apply to the oilfeild like for instance in any other job they cant make you work over 19hrs not so in the oilfeild i've had many 27hr days
I also work full time at the shop doing maintence on Air units SCABA and SABA packs, Cascade systems etc....
so i'm garunteed to work mon-fri and then if theres a job i work on the weekend or i'm out in the feild during the week
such a schedule is common here
so finding the time to actually go and get stuff is easier said than done
usually i was forced to make my sis go
because i couldnt cause just the way it seemed to work i would have sunday off more than i would saturday
as far as anything like banking
depositing my pay cheques
transfuring cash between banks etc
imposible
when my brakes went in MY truck it took over a week just for me to get time to slip away and make the app
i had to use a company truck....okay it was a fully loaded 3/4 ton chevy silverado so i was happy but still
it annoys me
thankfully right now I'm at home cause were renovating then i'm guiding then i go to college
so i can do stuff YAAAAY
but befor i couldnt
and it annoyed me
so i made this topic
