I am by no means a pro at Photoshop. I've used it for years but this was my first time using CS5 rather than CS and this was an assignment for class. We had to draw something simple and outline it in Sharpie then scan it to the computer. Next was to colour and shade it... I did a bit more but this was my result:

Reason why I say go easy on me is because while I may do some basic graphics or photomanipulation, this is the first time I've ever attempted something like this. ._. (Please excuse the terrible quality... it's a screenshot rather than the image. Oh and I can't draw by hand so... blah.) And since I'm lazy and couldn't be bothered to go find a proper mouse, I did everything using the trackpad on my laptop.

I'm rather proud of it.

I'm gonna ignore the trees, because of the using trackpad. Get a mouse /one to talk

The difference between sky and water. use different colors. One should be a royal blue turned dark (I forget which one that is, I know it's not saturation)
One should be an aqua blue with the same. It would remove the need for the line, which if you were *going* for juvenile is fine but I'm assuming you weren't.

I like how you've got the reflection of the moon as believabe.

The stars, they're very geometrically placed. This doesn't happen in nature.

Try doing one w/o a black outline, see how you like it.

It's for class. The black line needs to be there.

But thanks. :)

Not like an art critique or anything - but, yeah, change the colors of the water so it doesn't just blend in with the horizon. Other then that, it looks pretty amazing - beats anything I could do on the computer.
