Can someone tell me from personal experience what the effects of LSD or ecstasy or both, please?
I've looked it up but I'd like to know from someone who has actually tried it, like how long it lasts, the effects, and for ecstasy if it is true that you can accidently drown yourself from drinking too much whilst using it.

It's not just that you can accidentally drown yourself, it changes the way your blood retains water. You don't even have to have drunk too much fluid to drown yourself. Just saying..

Yeah. They can also lead to heart, liver or kidney problems if you have a bad reaction to it. Its not a good idea. Especially when depressed. Taking them increases the risk of causing harm to yourself during a trip.

There have been reports of people drinking too much water while rolling. It's rare and if you have common sense, you won't do it. Since ecstasy can cause a hyponatremic condition (due to water retention). I don't think it's very harmful acutely though. It's best to do it with a group of close friends rather than at large parties. This is because a) Dancing in a room with a lot of people will lead to dehydration, but drinking too much water is bad too b) You will feel more comfortable. LSD is extremely safe for the body, there are no physiological effects other than pupil dilation, slight increase in heart rate, sweating and vessel constriction. It's all about set and setting. Doing LSD for the first time in an uncomfortable environment is going to cause problems. Do not do it. You need to feel comfortable in the environment you are dosing. HPPD and flashbacks are rare and tend to occur with higher doses and more dangerous environments. Remember, LSD is a powerful tool, but at the same time it is a drug, so treat it with respect.

As for personal experience, I've only tried LSD. I had an insightful (though not life-changing, but certainly insightful) trip. You just gotta avoid really bad situations. Stay put, don't go walk around the city at midnight. It lasted about 8 hours for me. I had next to no paranoia. For me the effects were less visual and more mental. I had these crazy thoughts that connected everything. I often saw things melt together and I saw fractals and grid-like patterns with my eyes closed. Everything sort of amazed me (due in part to stimulation of the "novelty center", in the raphe nuclei I believe).

For ecstasy, I've never tried it, but many of my friends have tried pills and pure MDMA powder. I've read that the best way to avoid damaging your serotonergic neurons is to take a surplus of antioxidants afterward and compound that with 5HTP. The 5HTP can be taken before the roll as well. This might not be necessary for one or two time users, but expect to feel horrible the day after regardless of what you do. The crash from ecstasy isn't as bad as withdrawals from hard drugs, but it is quite unpleasant. Most of my friends relax the day after an ecstasy experience, usually by watching comedies and smoking weed.

Yes, all of these are correct and something else is that if the EMT's are Paramedics know you are on any of this we push Narcan, it takes away that high instantly and gves you a migrain for days. I wouldn't recomend it.

Thank you all for replying, your opinions are helpful.
Ok so it doesn't seem to risky really, the percentage of people who have any bad reaction to either of theses is quite low right?
Especially if we aren't talking about regular usage, just a one off or a couple of one off's.

Especially when depressed. Taking them increases the risk of causing harm to yourself during a trip.
This is something I hadn't heard, I assume you are safer if in a group?

You would be safer in a group because someone can look out after you, granted they are not under the influence themselves.

which would be safer?

A group, like Dimitri (Robert) said.

Ecstasy is dangerous as the overdoes level is higher, also with multiple uses serotonin (brain chemical) levels will become depleted possibly causing mental damage. Though used once the risk is extremely low.

LSD on the other hand is physically harmless though due to its more intense effects there is a possibility of a bad trip leading to psychological damage. So one trip can extremely mentally harm you.

Its tough to say which is worse as if you do E once with a proper dose that you know is pure than you'd be fine. Though with repeated use, impure pills or wrong doses it can be dangerous. LSD on the other hand could be used 1000 times and you may be fine though the first time could lead to a bad trip causing mental damage. So if your in the right mindset acid is better, otherwise doing E once would be safer.

The German study (I forgot the author, but it's out there) found that serotonin depletion was purely acute and very low. Within a few days to a few weeks, serotonin levels were 95-100% normal. The real damage concern is the possibility of toxicity to serotonergic neurons. Nichols at Purdue University and a few other authors suggested that MDMA itself does not cause the toxicity, but the depletion of serotonin allows dopamine into serotonin neurons. The monoamine oxidase enzymes then metabolize the dopamine (which enters through opened up serotonin transporters) and release peroxide which induces oxidative damage to the cell. This effect is easily countered with antioxidants (some of which can reduce toxicity by a very large proportion) and regulation of body temperature. A single use is less than harmful. In terms of safety, LSD is safer because there is no possibility of damage to brain structures. Bad trips tend to occur in bad mindsets or environments. A lot of LSD users I know will carry a Valium with them on a trip. Benzos tend to calm down the trip should it go bad or if they want to sleep. The real best way to divert a bad trip is to literally have a diversion. Know that it's only a temporary state of mind and try to think or find something with a really positive feeling for you. The sense of touch was really enhanced for me on LSD, so I sometimes grabbed something soft. It stimulated really insightful thoughts.

Also ecstasy is often impure, so it's best to find crystalline material rather than pills. Many pills are adulterated with mCPP, BZP or TFMPP. Sometimes they can also contain methamphetamine, cocaine, ketamine or PMA.
