Where are we going, and how do I get there?

Theres this guy (isn't there always?) and we're at the very end of I guess what people call "talking". Its like we're together..but not. Its so confusing. I can be absolutely sure that we like eachother, and then not sure at all. Thankfully, I have a lot of guy friends who know both of us, and are around us a lot. They say that he likes me. They're really sure. I just don't know what to do..I want to move forward, but I don't want to rush things or ruin what could be a great relationship. We've been like this for awhile..since last April.ughhhhhhh..I can't exactly explain what we're like together, we flirt of course. A lot. Its pretty annoying actually. We're always together at the theatre (thats how we know eachother, we don't go to the same school). People says our names as one because thats just how it is. If you're looking for me, look for him and vice versa. I want him to ask me to be his girlfriend. I'd prefer not having to ask him because, call me old-fashioned, but I think the guy should do that. What do you all think I should do? I can explain better if you have detailed questions.

My issue is that we are on the precipice of being "together", I'm not sure how to move past this state of liking eachother to actually being an item.

Your saying that your not dating him, but you are SOOOO close and you want to be? Correct? If so just ask him! The worst that can happen is a polite "No"

Its exacully the same with me, me and this guy are so close, he puts his arm around me, hugs me, holds my hand. But were not together, its difficult.

He doesn't act this way with other girls. Ok, so one of my guy friends went to talk to him about girls. He says "Hey man. So that ____ was a total b*tch. I can't believe I liked her. blah blah blah. do you have a crush on anyone here?" He was talking about this girl they both know who blew my friend off at the last second. Anyway, my crush responded with "Uhh no, not right now".....ughhhhh what does that mean? And every sign was there that he liked me. Trust me, I'm not the type of girl to keep up hope if it was futial. Help?

PS. Just thought of another thing he does. When we sit next to eachother (which is always) we sit close and when we turn to look at eachother our faces are really close together. Neither of us moves away. Oh! And I guess he has asked me out before. He's ask me to go see shows with him twice, just us. And his mom, but she has to come because we're only 15. His mom really likes me btw. A lot. She always talks to me telling me how alike we are and that we need to hang out lol she's such a sweetie.
