I just want to hear everyone's opinions of the group, Anonymous, which took down Sony and other companies.

Apparently, on October 10th, Anon. is planning on erasing the NYSE from the web. ~ http://www.informationweek.com/news/security/vulnerabilities/231900039

We will not stand by and watch the system take over our way of life.
We the people shall stand against the government’s inaction.
We the people will not be witnesses to your corruption and ill gotten profits.
We will not labor for your leisure.
We will not assist you in any way.

This is why we choose to declare our war against the New York Stock Exchange. We can no longer stay silent as the population is being exploited and forced to make sacrifices in the name of profit.

We will show the world that we are true to our word. On October 10th, NYSE shall be erased from the Internet. On October 10th, expect a day that will never, ever, be forgotten.

Nope, that is actually the fifth of November which is the main point in the movie V for Vendetta; always remember the fifth of November.

While looking up them, they have even adopted Guy Fawke's mask from V for Vendetta.

If you haven't seen that movie, you should. It's amazing.

And about the best cyber security people, but with that we also have some of the most potent hackers; a group named LulzSec (probably linked to Anonymous) took down the US Senate site a couple times, and both the groups have taken down many sites but something like the New York Stock Exchange would be...unforgettable...crazy, and nearly impossible but we shall see. :cool:

I honestly think they can do it. Do I want them to? No. It causes more damage than good. There are millions of people who have money in the stock market and damage like this could cause for widespread job and home loss.

Yeah, I think they could do it too. They took down the CIA website down too before, so it shouldn't be *that* hard. I have mixed feelings with this. It isn't going to do anything really beneficial, but show what they are capable of.

Oh please, Anonymous is nothing but an empty shell now. What else have they really done besides some successful invasions back in 2006 and 2007? The NYSE finished relatively high today and nothing happened. The group itself has no figurehead; it's just a large unorganized group of neckbeards who believe they're important. All the "We are Legion" bullshit got old a long time ago. Lulzsec, which is basically a more tightly organized form of Anonymous, does a much better job. But Anonymous by itself can do nothing because it is nothing.

Oh BTW I did see the movie "V for Vendetta". It was OK.

But anyway, I think they have the right to protest, but going as far as taking down (or attempt to) the NYSE and Facebook is acts of terrorism, and if ( or when) they get caught they can face charges of treason and terrorism of that such. But they have their rights.

With the NYSE being taken down or whatever. We all watched on the internet waiting for something to happen and nothing happened. It reminds me of May 21st and the 10th anniversary of 9/11 with the end of the world and terrorist attacks (respectively).

First to clear up, it was not verified that "Anonymous" was the group that took down sony's network. Mainly since Anonymous is a collective of people with no real leader it cannot be confirmed.
