Hey guys and gals!

About 2 years ago I found this game called Arma, it is an FPS that focuses on Realism and teamwork.

At first I thought it was going to be boring, but after playing it for a while I realized something. I was having more fun in this game than any others I have ever played!

I advise you give it a try, you need to have a decent system to run it, and its only on the PC.

There is a free version, not demo-- free version.

I'll let you guys learn about it by yourself, but IMHO it is the best game I have ever played. Period.

Check out ArmA 2, Operation Flashpoint (1 and 2) and the Project Reality mod for BF2. I highly recommend the latter. Its graphics aren't top of the line, but they have a dedicated modding community. It's free, but you have to own BF2 to play it (I've seen BF2 for sale at 5-10 USD). The game itself has a steep learning curve, but it's extremely realistic and teamwork-based. I've had some intense moments playing that game. Unfortunately I can't play it anymore as my mic is broken. It's very difficult to play PR without a mic.

I've heard of ARMA but I never got around to looking at it. I might check it out sometime.

Go look at ARMA 3. Personally I prefer ARMA 2 with ACE2

you really need a real gaming rig to play ARMA, which is half of its appeal but also a problem with it. It does blow all of the others out of the water when it comes to realism.

Actually it doesn't require that good of a gaming rig. I was actually playing it on this laptop with a low end NVS3100M (Workstation equivalent to Nvidia GT310 m)

It requires processing power, but like you said, unlike most games, you dont need a amazing gaming rig.

If you are willing to not play it on super good settings and play on dedicated servers CPU power isn't a problem as much, as the dedi does the processing for you. But a great rig always helps. :D

It can be about what you want it about. It has a very in depth Mission Editor, Dedicated Server capability, and great Mod Tools. With this you can do what you want with the game if you have the skills. There are quite a few RPG modes you can play, fast pace Team Deathmatch / Free for all modes, or hyper realistic military scenarios helped along with mods like ACE (Advanced Combat Environment). It is best played with friends of course, people that will have your back and drag you out of the line of fire if you are injured.

Personally I play it as an Open World Zombie RPG. In which you need to scavenge for weapons, find shelter, hold out, get rescued, whatever you want to do. From time to time I go out and throw together a WW3 type tank battle with hundreds of friendly and enemy tanks and see who wins.

It is nice, however it has a few downsides. It has a fairly clunky action menu, the reload animations could be better, and it has some silly physics at times. Arma 3, however should be nice as it is adding ragdoll, getting rid of action menu, redoing animations, better reload animations and more.
