how many people 'cut' themselves. I don't do it and never would, but I never thought it was this big of an issue. If you guys do this alot, you might want to consider getting help, or at least put yourselves in more positive environments. I'm deeply concerned here.

Yes, many people do actually cut but here is where sooo many of them can get some help but all of the support that they need. SO many of these people who cut are not receiving the support they need from their families and that's where we step in. We are here to help.
Some of use here are Ex-Cutters, like myself, I have been free for a little over five years and what we do is help the people who need the help because we have been through it ourselves. Most if not all pf the people that are here are seeking sometime of help. If you are so worried try doing something about it.....

For some reason, despite the fact that self harm is scarily common, it's basically still seen as a social taboo, because people who don't do it and don't know anyone who does have no idea how to handle the concept. It's rediculous.

your entire post actually makes me rather angry.
"If you guys do this alot, you might want to consider getting help"- are you ignorant or just plain stupid? a lot of the time, the cutter cuts because they cant find help. Also, do you honestly believe cutters do not try and get help or to stop? if you do then i have no comment.
"I'm deeply concerned here."- then, if your concerned why don't you do something a little more helpful to those that you are "concerned" for instead of telling them things they already know, such as to "get help"; in fact, why don't you be the help you wish for them to get.

That was kinda upsetting to read..
1. More people than you know. More than I know. But we don't know it because people who cut generally don't want people to know.
2. You think we don't TRY to do that?! I bet that majority of anyone who cuts, if they could get out of their environment and go somewhere where they're happy, and/or get help, they would.
3. You think we don't want help? Do you have any idea how hard it is? Do you know how badly some of us want help but can't get it?
4. If you're so concerned, do something about it then. But honestly, you don't really sound that concerned to me..
5. Be careful what you say, because this was taken pretty offensive by people. Learn your facts before you go posting over public boards.

Most people here are here because they are trying to get help. You shouldn't worry about us. This place is meant to be a positive environment for people to get help.

People come here for help, not judgement. It helps them cope, so leave them alone. There's nothing wrong with them, it doesn't make them bad people.
