Or you can fallow the directions on the side of the bow, you know, stirr when needed, cover then let sit for 2 min and then fluff with a fork. Just sayin.

It depends on what kind of rice would you prefer, a general guide line would be to wash the rice, and fill the water till when you press the rice with your palms down, the water reaches your wrist.
That would be the relative proportion of rice to water you would need.

There are of course other factors, i.e if the rice is grown in wetter countries, you can achieve the same softness with lesser water.
Its basically trial and error, till you get the desired results.

Some would prefer it alittle harder, hence lesser water, while others whom like it alittle softer would rise the water level.

To your question : I can! :)
Good luck

Shove it in a steamer? That may work. I'm not a big rice person, though.

Oil, garlic, salt, rice. Add bell pepper or chicken stew powder for extra desired taste.
Stir.
Add 2 cups of water for every 1 cup of rice.

Let it cook for 40 mins, (no stirring)
and VOILA!

that's how I make it anyways.

I do more or less the same thing, though I've got this really delicious curry powder that I use instead.

Get the plastic packets of rice or as paula said 2 cups of water for every cup of rice and shove it in a saucepan of boiling water for 10 minutes, don't forget to add salt or stock to flavor and yeah.. pretty much done. I eat a lot of rice.

I've never heard of a rice cooker. it doesn't take any special abilities to cook rice. I wonder what this device is for then.
any way I can cook rice. the only complication I have is the amount of rice per person. I often take much more rice than needed.
