Alright, we all have our preferences here. Let's here them in the form of a techy nerd debate!

Which do you prefer and why?

Honestly, I prefer Intel. Yes, they're a little more expensive, but if you look at the "Competing processors" together, the Intel chips just tend to be a little bit ahead on the technology. Chipset wise Intel provides another incentive, for example the next generation of Intel chips will be including quad channel memory controllers, compared to AMD still sticking to dual channel.

I admit, AMD has quite a few things going for them, but I still fill Intel is still worth my extra money.

So let's see who we prefer :)

Lol, this is an age-old debate.
To me, it really doesn't matter. Most programs that I've found are all for i386(yes, I'm still a lousy 32-bit user :P), so I guess it's Intel for me.

Darn you 32 bit ;). Actually the only reason I moved to 64 bit was the memory limitation.

Yes, I know it's an age-old debate, but seeing as the time I've been lurking our friendly Tech Junky forums I haven't seen this debate come up once. I thought I'd bring it up :D

Hello gentlemen ;)

Lets remember that each chip was designed to do very different things. AMD are more aimed towards the video editing and graphic design sectors of the market whilst Intel prefer the hardcore gaming side and the music production side.

None the less the contest between the Bulldozer chip and the Ivy-Bridge chip will be interesting ;)

I'm an Intel fan, I for some unknown reason find AMDs naming methods a mind fuck.

After having an AMD laptop and and AMD PC, I can honestly say that my next computer will definitely not be AMD based.

Intel, hands down.
AMD just sucks, plain and simple. :P

Intel If you want a faster smoother computer

AMD If you want a computer with graphics, and don't feel like building one yourself.

For the 70% of my life i have been gaming my pcs have had intel and my latest pc has intel I3 soon to be i7.I chose Intel mainly cause thay are reliable and u can push them to the limit.Amd has always been good to if u are building your first rig due to been cheap and fast when u bye from certain places.

I've always been using Intel. I have never had a problem, maybe AMD is just as good, but I've never used it so I have to say Intel.

Intel, end of discussion if you're in my household.

I prefer Intel though I went with AMD for my laptop because my laptop cost $300 total and my parents were going to wait until I got till college to get me one so I needed a way to convince them. It still runs fairly well, runs most games. Only games I had problems with was new games like Hard Reset. I got 64 bit windows because of ram limitations.

Don't you mock my green hard drive. I got 2tb for like 80 dollars :) Just match it up with a SSD and it's fine.

That made no sense. And it's off-topic.

So please keep it on-topic. Thank you :)

intel for the win

I will have to say custom built amd rig for the win for me... I have had dell intels but when i built my first rig ichoose a 955 phenom x4 black edition. Yes i know intel runs circles around amd but a i7 extreme is wat 1k were the top of the line AMD is wat lower then 300 I would rather get the hex core amd spend 300 for custom loop WC and oc to like 5 Ghz to me i am going bang for my buck. Now if i was making a million a year intel all the way but budget/ bang for buck sorry AMD all the way. Love mine so far quick easy OC so far stable but not big OC decently cool.
I wanna find people to talk this stuff with cuz hopefuly i will make a bull dozer comeputer :)

couldent read all of that but:

Bulldozer still doesnt beat the 2600k in most tests not to mention bulldozer will be £100 more than the 2600k

I have always been a fan of AMD because of their price point. I have built countless custom rigs and I've only used Intel once. I have never had a problem running the newest games or keeping up with a pc that costs a lot more money. Every time I go to build another pc I always compare AMD and Intel rigs and the Intel rig tends to be about $500 more expensive, sometimes more. Another reason I prefer AMD is because I hate nVidia and ATI/AMD doesn't integrate with Intel as well as nVidia does.
