I think the touchy subjects like religion or politics should have more mods because of some the immaturity in there. My thing is, is that there ARE indeed people who can handle that kind of stuff in a mature way, but there are also others that handle it in an immature way, and they basically make my blood boil. I'm not saying violate their free speech, but bashing other religions or political parties or people because of their beliefs is way across the line and some of the stuff in there should be moderated.

You could just report any posts that are out of line...

*facepalm*
I haven't seen one of these threads in a while.
Anyways, report it, or IM it to the correct mod.
And besides, your definition of "touchy" may differ from that of someone else.

Everyone who chooses to debate in these topics did it of their own free will, if they can't hold their own and other members pummel them to death, well, that's their problem now, isn't it? Nobody asked them to read it or participate. You can tell what it's going to be about from the title or the OP's post. If you decide it's too much for you, just leave. Stop posting.
If you can't take the heat, don't stick your hand in the heaters.

Honestly I find that the immaturity in thread like that can be handled pretty easily, if they're making stupid arguments then it shouldn't be difficult to do a bit of research and clearly explain yourself in a mature way that will most likely baffle them... Plus as others have said, you don't need to go there.

Im sure its not necessary to require more moderators to handle 1 single matter, as it makes not much difference with 1 or 3 mods handling 1 thread.
Which brings down to a waste of resources doing so.
As thomas has mentioned, everyone looks at religion and politics in different perspectives, and most whom reply are just being vocal on what they believe in
Trolling, bashing and personal attacks can be filtered out eazily and can be rooted out by any one whom is willing to look at the debate on a vantage point.
Thats where fair moderation comes into play, which again does not require more mods on it.
Cheers
