Why cant you see who is giving you reps, be it good or bad?

You can see who gave you rep in the user cp if they left their name in the comment area.
Though, I guess you just won't know if they don't sign it.

I can see some rep given to me, but that's because I'm a mod :P
And it doesn't show who gave it as not to provoke a shitstorm between 2 users.

the issue with seeing who gives you rep and who takes it away is currently a good system.
The reason why you dont see it is simple if someone De-reps you for a post, you my then go a De-rep him just out of spite
I think it is just to stop rep wars really

Because if they want you to know it was them, they'll tell you.

If rep was removed altogether then this wouldn't need to be done. xD

You can disable your rep.
I like the rep system :P

Its to stop rep fights between users. If you think someone gave you a bad rep for no reason, contact an admin, and if necessary, they will have it removed.

Have done, but nothing happened! But it would be a good idea to see if your being bad rep'd by the same user time and time again. I have disabled the rep bit, but still more or less get a bad rep for EVERY SINGLE post I do

It is frustrating when people don't sign -reps, however if we made usernames from reputation comments visible people might take that frustration about the -rep out on the person rather than the fact they cannot tell who the person is.
Often -reps are justified and there's not really anything you can do about them other than learn and move on. The rep system really isn't important anyway.

I have only given -rep once, but the comments are mandatory, as the system had prompted, but i'd suppose to sign of if you are issuing -rep is good if you are doing it for something justifiable, but either way, no one would enjoy getting -repped even if its justified.
Everyone has their own opinions and perspectives of things, and to evade vengeful and childish returns of -rep due to infulence or what not, guess its normal that people dont sign off when issuing -reps.
Perhaps this is just something too overrated and taken too seriously, it does not mean someone with a good rep is not gonna get banned, nor someone with a bad rep is not going to give good advice.
Its just about how much people agree with you, and how much people dont.
People disagreeing with you does not necessarily mean you are wrong, while people agreeing with you does not mean you are right all the time either.

+rep for that, well said sir (oh, the irony :P)! I use the reputation system not primarily to raise the reputation power of the person receiving the reputation (that would be pointless), but more to show that I agree and approve of their comment. If you like, I do it to give the receiver the little green square, and the knowledge that what they said was, in my opinion good, not for the number.

Sorry Kujiro, loads of my negative reps have NO COMMENTS at all! On one of my posts I got loads of good interesting replies, but my rep said "You are an idiot!", another -rep was because I answered a poll in capitol letters(WTF)!
All these -reps started AFTER I posted a rant about people on this forum contacting me on MSN and asking me to pose naked, or send naked pics of myself, and I refused to do it.
I have a very strong feeling that the majority of -reps is from ONE person, but cannot prove it.
I know some of them are/were deserved, but surely not on every post I make now?

I have looked through your reputation comments and they are not from one person.
Most of them aren't really fair though. I can assure you it has nothing to do with you being against other members soliciting you: that is something the majority of the VT userbase is against and something we as staff try to stamp out as much as possible.
Alas, Kyle, this is no longer about your suggestion (which we have more-or-less established will not happen) and more about your reputation which is a topic that should be discussed privately with an administrator. I'll lock this thread to keep it from going more off-topic. :locked2:
