I was wondering how to stop them since they have been getting really bad for me. Mostly my moods during my periods go from overly happy to extremely sad, and its just terrible. Can anyone tell me what to do about this, please? Are there any remedies or anything I can do to hold these moodswings off?

A friend has told me about birth control too, but I'm really scared of the side effects.

Birth control does it, but a little relief is also a treatment. If you have a bf/gf, it's even better.

You shouldn't be scared. There are side effects to everything you take. Asprin, cough syrup, the works. Birth control pills say they MAY cause weight gain. May. They do not always. I have been on them for two years and have yet to experience any gaining of weight from anything other than my own lack of excersise.

Birth control pills will help you with mood swings, cramps, and will regulate your period to a point that you can pinpoint the exact day you are starting ten times better than you thought you could. Not only this but it will shorten it and, in the event that you decide you are ready for sex, will be protective.

I recommend going and talking to your doctor or going to your local Planned Parenthood. Tell them you have extreme mood swings and they are effecting your everyday life. They can help you!
