A single Tear
You start out innocent and raw. All your emotions are on show, you trust everyone.
Then, you learn the ways of life, you only mean something to someone while you can amuse them, while you let them use you. Your emotions are shreaded, your self-belief is eroded, all your confidence is worn away until all that remains is a shell, a ghost of who you were.
You scream for help but no one listens. You hide your pain, lock all your emotions away, you wont let anyone in; not again. You fall deeper into yourself, what is the mask, what is you, what is the mask, what is you, what is the mask, what is you, what is the mask, what is you, what is the mask… You snap. Your mind falls into chaos and you loose control. You scream, you shout, you cry.
Only one thing can relieve the pain now. You pick up that slither of metal, your heart beats faster; inside a voice screams “no!”. But you don’t listen. You press down hard, it hurts, but it takes away from all your stress, your pain, your fears. In that moment, that one metallic moment, you have control.
A year passes by, 365 days. Now you sit there, recovering. You have learnt from your mistakes. You meet someone, by complete chance, who gives you a reason to smile again and against your every inhibition, you let them in. By letting them in, you find that your still raw, your still scared, you still have emotion, it wasn’t locked away, only buried under the masks you had formed. You find yourself again, but in doing so, you find your still insecure, you still have no confidence, you still want to break the mirror, you still want to change who you are, every person you see is still better than you.
The person you met, the person who changes everything, starts to show you, you are amazing, you are beautiful. They start to rebuild your confidence, they show you that you have nothing to be insecure about. Because, regardless of what you say, to them you are perfect.
You are perfect, you are. To that one special person, you are perfect. And that’s when your emotions flood out, when you realise that you are perfect. This realisation can be shown in the greatest showing of emotion there is: The single tear.
