I cut two nights ago and they were deeper than normal. I did three and now they are infected.
What do you guys use to disinfect? I just tried Tea Tree oil and it stings like hell.
I also have Rawliegh ointment but I can't get to that easily.

**EDIT**
Also, plasters are almost impossible to get without reason. My parents are nosy.
Help...

I've never had this problem, but Hydrogen peroxide is of course the best, but you can buy some pretty good types of antiseptic creams and ointments at any drug store.

Google it: http://www.google.com/search?q=how+to+disinfect+big+cuts&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

To avoid infections make sure whatever you're using to harm yourself is clean.

Apply some iodine or hydrogen peroxide to the cut. It might sting a little, but it will hurt way less than the actual act of cutting, so I'm sure you'll be ok! :)

And again, look into some of the links there for yourself. Then you'll be much safer!

So that's a stupid comment, cutting is a completely different hurt. Hell I have possibly the lowest pain threshold ever I cry at splinters! So yeah just don't say stuff like that and assume.

However he is right, hydrogen peroxide will do the trick, if it doesn't clear up you need to seek medical attention.

Typically, for most people, cutting will hurt more than the application of hydrogen peroxide to the wound. Though, for some, their adrenaline may be running when cutting, so they are slightly less susceptible to pain, putting a knife to your flesh is a consistent "Ow!" while it's happening. Applying hydrogen peroxide, or some iodine, is just a quick sizzle - literally for an instant.

Sorry that, for you, the opposite is true. Doesn't mean my comment was stupid. :) Also, I was trying to be nice by saying if she can handle the pain of cutting, then surely she can handle a little iodine!

Mhm you do have a point cutting is most probably a lot more painful than applying iodine. But the way you word this just gets to me. Cutting is for a reason it's not, oh this helps me handle pain.
Sorry I'm probably taking your comments the wrong way.

What you need to do is clean the area each day with warm water and soap, possibly some hydrogen peroxide, then you need to put some neosporin or some Triple Anti-Biotic Ointment on the cuts. After that cover them with a bandage, in the eveing you need to remove the bandages and wash the area, re-apply the ointment to the area and good to bed without covering it. Oxygen will help to premote healthier growth and the covering with a bandage will help deferr bacterial infections.

Along with a healthy diet this will all help to premote healthy growth.
