My iPod is full. But it's only 8 gigs so I can only fit a third of my music on it.

Specifically, 2577 in my iTunes library. And I'd have to charge my iPod to figure out how many are on it, so that's not happening.

But the bulk of that is made up by me owning the entire discographies of The Beatles, The Cure, Emilie Autumn, Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, PJ Harvey, Placebo, Radiohead, and Tegan & Sara. I do own the entire discographies of many more artists, but that's not counting the ones that are made up of less than seven albums... so take those bands out and I would have roughly 1000 fewer songs.

When you buy a song, damn near all of that money goes to the record label, the artist barely sees a fraction of that.

You really want to support the artists? Buy their gear. Buy shirts, hats, go to concerts, etc. That's how artists make the majority of their money.
