I once read in a book... There were 2 teens who were passing out from apparently no reason at school, home, anywhere... They'd awake to find cuts on themselves but had no clue how they got there. Apparently they had been suffering from a type of dissociation just before and during when they cut, they'd have a mind blank and the whole memory would be deleted from their minds and then they would wake up later with cuts.
An interesting case, i think. Apparently the self harm would release so much hormones for them that they would get an overload of endorphins/opiates and then pass out because they were so 'high'.

You might just be repressing the memories abit which is why you cant remember doing it... I'm not sure to be honest but that seems the most likely answer from where I'm sat.

Your mind probably blocks the memories or something. I vaguely remember cutting most of the time. It's just easier to deal with.

It does sound like dissociation to me. I used to dissociate a bit, but cutting would snap me out of it and I'd "come back" if you know what I mean. If you're dissociating really badly, it is possible that even cutting and pain wouldn't snap you out of it, and that's when you start to get partial mind blanks and amnesia etc.

I could be wrong, it could be any number of different things, but that's what it sounds like to me.

If you can feel yourself going kind of numb, like you're detaching from reality, maybe try and do something to snap you out of it before it gets too bad, like holding onto ice or snapping an elastic band around your wrist. I found cold showers really good for snapping me out of it, and then I'd turn the temperature up really quickly after I was back :P There's a lot of things you could try, it just depends on what works for you.
