Don't know what to do

Well recently ever since I moved, I've been visiting my grandparents a LOT, since they only live a couple hours away now. Like I love seeing them and all, but I'm always exhausted from school by friday, and I just want to relax but I end up having to go to a bunch of stuff with family every weekend, and to be honest I really would rather just stay home and hang out with friends, but I don't want my family to be sad, and I know my mom will immediately say "No, you need to spend more time with the family blablablah".

The worst part is that apparently I'm going to be there during my birthday, which I REALLY wanted to spend with my girlfriend and some of my other friends, but I don't know what to do. Any advice?

How old are you? You could tell them that you want to do other stuff other than go out with the family. You could make up that your friends made you a surprise birthday party?

My grandma is currently staying at my house this week to help my mom get my sisters ready for school in the morning, I told her that I'd probably rather stay home on my birthday, she said that was fine but fsdjasdhakl I feel so bad about it, since they had stuff planned on that day that I might miss now.
