View Full Version : Who knows about you ED?

Who have you told about your ED? If so, how did you go about telling them and how is it now? Was it hard to do so? Easy?

I told my two brothers, as I tell them most things, and I found it only fair if they are opening up to me as well. I figured that they would find out anyways, so I just told them. And one of my brothers told my hall director (I don't know what they are called elsewhere, but they reside in my dorm and supervise and whatnot) just because he was concerned. I can understand that. I am a bit scared she (as someone else other than my two brothers) knows, but I am okay with it, as she is just looking out for me. I can't get mad at my brother for telling her.

It is okay so far, but it is still a struggle.

I just wanted to know other people's stories of telling people about their ED.

I haven't told anyone. I don't know if I want to or not, I feel like I can't let go of ED quite yet. And also, I doubt I'd be taken seriously. It be a "just eat!" thing...

My best friend. It just kind of came up in a conversation one day.

Only like two or three people I've told myself on VT, I've referenced a few times in posts here.

I don't talk about myself in real life, though some people appear to be worried about my habits.
When people ask I say I ate <insert lie here> earlier, and was full.

I don't plan on telling unless I'm confronted formally, otherwise— nevermind, off topic.

So now someone else knows to. A friend of mine and my brother's who dealt with anorexia for a year (which I didn't know about it). My brother told him because he wanted to know more about it and understand it. He's realizing it is not about "just eating" or anything like that.

I don't really want others to know and am not ready for others to know either.

I've told a couple people, more than that know about it. When it gets to a certain point, it becomes extremely difficult to hide, especially with people who are with you for a large portion of the day.

I only told a few. But it was quite obvious. I dropped to 50 pounds, that's damn hard to hide. None of them reacted well, they just told me to eat and not do it again. They knew when I told no one, when I was in too much pain and when I was too obsessed with food to, but nobody helped me then, they just left.

But that made me stronger. Now I don't need anyone.

A few of my friends know, but honestly not many. I can't really remember how I told them. Some noticed, and didn't need telling.

My parents and doctors know. My boyfriend and my friend pretty much made me go to the doctors, i'm glad that they did now though. It wasn't actually that hard to tell my doctor, but she told me my mum needed to know. She gave me the option of ringing her for me or talking to me myself. I asked her to ring her.
