Help with story for english class

I'm writing a story about the Boston Massacre.The person(s) is made up but the facts have to be correct.And our teacher is really picky when it comes to history,especially language and writing,and im writing in dialects(one of them speak a brummie-like dialect and another speaks with a kind off Scottish accent",so my question is,when did the American accents start?I really want a A on this and not a B with the comment "The American dialect are incorrect"

In all honesty, it's hard to say when it really changed. People during that time spoke with various accents only because the colonies were made up of so many different people from different parts of Britain and so on. If it's so very important to you to know the difference then I would read up on the American language:
