Exactly what the title says. For example, I saw this thread in boys puberty
http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/showthread.php?t=115394

The first few all say the same thing, and after that, everyone just repeats what they say. I know there is no current mod for this, but I think it would help control the amount of answers to a rather simple post. And don't bash it because its the puberty section. I realize this doesn't happen that much else in the forums, but I just think it would be a good implementation.

It's just confirmation. You may find it annoying, but members can find it reassuring and useful. It doesn't really hurt anyone.

I know its conformation, but once you have over a page and a half of "yes your normal", you'd think the OP would get the idea. And it doesnt hurt anyone, but I think that meaningless (the ones after the initial page and a half of yeses) +1 posts show something about the user(s).

If we start to make things like this against the rules we go into overkill and members complain. It also means an unnecessary amount of work for no real reason.

I do see your point here. But why would members complain that they can't post one word answers for a question? When they complain, you'd think they would understand why.

Thing is people do find it reasuring but when you also think of it is it nessasary to have the same 1 word answer.

Again Donkey is correct because I know for a fact that people would complain if a thread was to be locked over repeated answers.

It would be a good idea to have something in place to stop repeated questions

What about giving the OP the option to close the thread? Oh wait, that user could contact a mod. Forget that.

I don't know if the OP would notice the hundreds of same answers that they typically get and request to lock anyway, I'm still getting email notifications from a couple of those threads I replied in when I was new, from late July, still getting replies to this day (Sep 20). Nearly two months. O_o

Maybe a a tip for forum etiquette to not repost what technically is spam.

This is a community. If you have a problem or question in your own group of friends and you say it to them, what happens?

Does one person give their opinion and no one else says anything. Or does everyone say something even if its the same thing they are really saying? With my friends its the later.

More people really sets in stone something and can make someone feel better. VT is a community, it's about many people interacting and letting who ever wants to give an opinion give one. Who knows someone might say something different and a debate might start.

If the OP is given the chance to request their thread be locked then that won't promote the above.

Also on these types of forums when you have members with post counts in the high thousands for someone with a few posts it can be intimidating for them to contribute sometimes, but sometimes adding to a thread even though essentially saying the same thing can help them post more and further develop as I mentioned first, this community.

I agree with all above. This topic has come up before (I'm too lazy to link to my answer then) and I did say that it helped confirm the answer. If a thread was locked straight after an answer was given, nobody would be able to expand upon it. It's also unnecessary; people make a big deal of post count, but it's not all that important (I'm not just saying that to make myself feel better xD).

There should also be something like a "like" button.

This isn't Facebook, we don't really "like" or "dislike" any more than posting our feelings and/or using the rep system.

If you know it is a bot, why do you reply?

The subject of "like" buttons come up frequently, eh nevermind. I don't want to be chewed up.
