Anyone tried the WDP that came out on Wednesday? (or was it Tuesday?) I downloaded it and I have it installed, and I'm loving it :D
I was wondering what you guys think about it? I know most of you guys will complain about the new UI, so I just want to say, I like it (I'm running it on a laptop, I don't have a tablet)

I've got it running inside a VirtualBox machine, and honestly, I hate it. New UI is awful (I hate tablets, for the most part).
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

So far, it's... interesting. To say the least, but not the best for me yet.

Most of you know my bias against Microsoft.
So you can guess what I'm going to say.

I found this. It will show you how to use disable the new UI and use the traditional UI.

I hate the new "Metro" UI from the looks of it. Microsoft needs to stop going for things that are aestheticly pleasing, and focus on how well things run.

Lol! Bad reactions I guess.. I like the new interface, but I use a laptop that has a resolution of 1366x768 so the screen isn't really wasted, and its something new, so I'm probably just excited about using it. I know my mom will hate it, she hates change.
@TheMatrix, lol! Yup :)

UI aside, I think Windows 8 looks superb.

Microsoft needs to stop going for things that are aestheticly pleasing, and focus on how well things run.You should watch the conference they held then, it showed performance improvements on so many levels, such as boot-up time, power usage levels in Sleep mode, UI for file transfers, Task Manager facelift with more details, etc.
Also, from a developers perspective Windows 8 looks rather jaw droppingly good. I look forward to the Beta.

Call me one who simply is biased because of change, but I still fail to like it. I think it's a very fancy UI, but I won't be able to get used to it. Microsoft is taking a big step with this, and I feel like it won't end well.
In all honesty, if it doesn't ship with a standard UI option, I won't upgrade.

There is a way to disable to new UI.

I know in the Developer Preview there is, but they can still take out that when they ship the full version.

I suppose. I understand that people might not like the new UI, but old UI is still available, if you click on an app called Desktop. So it might not be that big of a deal for some people.

Most people don't like though that when you click the start button in the desktop app, you expect the old start menu, you get back to the Metro UI.
I'm fine with the UI, I'm just mad that all Metro apps can only be run if downloaded from the Windows Store. If I make an app for my mom, I don't want to have to publish it to the store, or install Visual Studio on her computer to compile it.

I'm positive Microsoft will still keep the option avaliable, as they are making the OS with no compromises, and including every type of user available, including us classic desktop w/ with keyboard and mouse people.

You obviously don't know Microsoft.

You obviously don't know Microsoft.
And you obviously don't know Microsoft either. The foray into a touch screen OS is pretty new. I can't blame them for putting a new operating system around a tablet. It's not like Windows 7 or Vista is going to go completely out of print. All the people complaining just need to shut up and deal with it. Microsoft can handle this just like Apple can with their OSX series. And when we see it come either next year or 2013, you'll all forget about this developer preview.

You obviously don't know Microsoft.
You obviously didn't watch the conference when they demoed the OS. Win 8 is being designed to cover every user at the best of Microsofts ability. To move from a desktop OS to something more open to other devices, and then completely remove the typical desktop features is just something Microsoft wouldn't do.
Anyway, I say they won't remove it. We shall just wait and see in the upcoming months.

It's the biggest pile of rubbish I have ever seen running on a computer.
If they actually release it and get people to use it as their primary operating system, I will hate them forever and I know it'll be a huge failure.

I mean really don't know the meaning of failure. Disregard the Metro UI just for one moment. What they're currently doing is fab. If you was a developer, I'm sure your view may be different; unless you was some faggot linux boy or Apple wannabe.
I'm just saying, don't judge something when it isn't complete yet. Plus, it won't repeat Vistas mistake. Win 8 will be compatible with all Win 7 hardware and softeware and such. Microsoft are making sure they do it right this time. I mean, Windows 7 is proof they can do shit when they want to.
