I wonder why it works this way...
You have to have 100posts to PM someone other than a mod or an admin right.
So then why do you need 250 posts to make a visitor message without it being moderated when PMing is a little more effective.
Can someone answer this for me
It just seems a little odd

It's a progressive thing, you are able to VM the moment you join, it's just that it's being moderated from explicit behavior, while the privilege of PM is only issued if you have made 100 proper post.
Makes lots of sense does it not?
You are allowed to VM but in the condition that it has to be moderated the moment you join, and you are only able to engage in pm after clearing 100 post with not as much scrutiny, compared to VMs.
It's kind of like learning to walk before learning to run.
And besides 250 post moderation has to be inclusive of a 3 month maturity membership.
Cheers

I understand the point that it would be more sensible the other way around as PMing is more vulnerable to cammers than VMing is.

This. Most people would have enough common sense not to ask to cam on a public part of someones forum page. But I think we should keep the 100 post limit because it really isn't that hard to do, and anyone (usually) who sticks around here that long isn't looking to cam, and if they are, they'll get banned.
Simple as that.

No one would be surprised why we have the VM moderation queue for 250 posts / 3 months if they had seen some of the VMs that were moderated. Its a good way to tell who are here for good reasons, and the ones here for bad.

You have a point its just I have never seen a bad VM message so I suppose that means the mods are doing there job correct
