deep or shallow?

OK, so I went to see yet another therapisty type person the other day and they asked about my self harm and I showed him. I've a couple of angry looking recent ones but before I broke last week I had gone 2 weeks without it. And as I never cut that deep (more because I don't quite know how!) so they had faded a little. He took one look and went oh it's not that bad, you can just stop easily.

So, I'm curious how may people cut deeply, and how may only cut shallowly, but perhaps more often.

What do define as deep?

I cut mostly "medium." They're not shallow, they have some depth to them, but it's not gross looking, at least to me. I have a few oval scars on my thigh, though, from cutting extremely deep. Usually that's when I completely lose it.

I'm not sure what to define as deep, but most of the time I cut deep compared to shallow ones.

It's kinda a mix for me, depending on where I cut..
I said deep though, cause most of mine are fairly deep. Maybe more medium.

Usually medium to deep, but like always. I don't suggest trying this to anyone.

I said shallow.. Because the majority are meduim/shallow ish.

Wouldn't say any were particularly deep.. But then again people say they are so idk.

It depends. Deep cuts(at least 9mm) make me stop because I have to make sure my mum doesn't see them. Shallow cuts, I just keep going. But i like deep ones cause they scar. Shallow cuts fade after a year or so. But I'm scared it'll bleed when I'm sleeping and my mum finds out.

I said shallow. My pain tolerance is really low. And I don't know how to cut deep (not that I really want to or should know).

I said shallow. But they're kind of medium, like everyone here has said. I usually don't cut too terribly deep. I'm afriad of it scarring too badly. And someone finding out.

I cut my thighs pretty deeply, though. So, yeah, usually medium, but it depends on where its at. (Besides, its not like I take the time to measure the depth of my cuts...)

Lol your therapist seems like he doesn't have a clue. It doesn't matter how deep/shallow the cuts are. Either way, it's just as hard to quit. Anywaayyy...

I would consider mine shallow-medium. I don't really remember much of it. Cutting is something that I have blocked from my memory - not necessarily the feelings of it, but just the memories of actually doing it. Thinking about it is triggering.

To be honest, I feel like most cutters are in denial about how bad they cut, so most of us wouldn't classify it as deep anyway. I don't know. Just my experience.
