I think there should be a limit in how many name changes you can have within a given amount of time. Like on GovTeen it's 16 weeks. A lot of people I notice are changing their names often and it gets a bit confusing.

There was a limit, but i think it has been forgotten about. It should be 16 weeks here aswell.

I agree we need to have a limit, but the only thing about a limit is that it could get a bit difficult or rather hard to get the last date someone change their name if the only thing we have to go on is the name change thread. Gov have a bit more sophisticated system, to the best of my knowledge.
But yea I am all for a limit.

I have a solution. See the search this thread tool up on the top? You can just search by user name and find the last post in the thread.

Nice solution. I forgot the Thread Search thing was there, don't think I have ever used it. But good thinking batman!:D
Mmm 16 weeks, thats about 4 months, I think that we could do that.

Good idea! This way we still (sort of) know who people are! :P

Yep, sounds like a good idea. I need to revise some of the rules anyway, might as well revise certain forum/thread regulations too.

I think it should be a tiny bit less, and you can always go to the 'find last posts by user' in their profile or check to see if they still have the same avatar/signature, but extending the time limit is a nice idea.
But good thinking batman!:D
You know what they say about Batman and Robin!:P

Also I think it should be that members who have just joined have to be here at least 16 weeks also before they can have a name change.

Yeah, good idea Alex.
P.S. we share the same name!

No, we cant limit name changes. Although it allows people to recognise others with familiar names, people may just decide to create new accounts. Don't do it! 'Ghost" accounts all around. People will make new accounts and dump old ones.

Double or 'Ghost' accounts aren't allowed anyway. People aren't encouraged to create new accounts and I believe reading in the FAQ that these people will get a talking to anyway.
