So let me explain a little.
The people who don't understand and are very ignorant. My father and sister.
Then the people who are like me and accept one another for whatever they like or dislike. Me, my brother, and my mom. You can obviously tell which one's I hang out with the most. My brother went off to college, so now it's me and my mom against my sister and father. Anyway, I am afraid of the dark. Correction.. TERRIFIED. But yet they still make me go feed the rabbits in the dark. UGH!

You'll never get over your fear if you don't confront it. What scares you about the dark?

being afraid of the dark is a common phobia. some people overcome their fear. its whether you want to or not. though don't mind me asking but why you afraid of the dark? did something happen?

I have this same fear, except my parents are able to tolerate it.. I don't know if this works for you, but I have been slowly getting over it. I go to bed with some lights on in my room, and as I become comfortable with that amount, I turn some lights off.. Just an idea though. Hope your phobia gets better for you!

Right I think I now understand where you are coming from
Its not a case of being in the dark
Its a case of being alone and that alone part when in dark makes it a little worse
You must try and get over your fear as if you dont you will never be able to be alone and its a part of growing up.
Are you sure theres not more to it than just this?

The best way to overcome fears are to face them, gradually as you grow older, these fears should be less prominent.
I find Austin's method pretty effective, proceeding with some lights on, gradually turning them off bit by bit.
Over time it would you would be more accustomed to it.
But it's good to trace your origin of thus fear, be it a scary movie, tales of monsters under the bed and such.
Understanding your fears would aid yourself in overcoming it.
Good luck

If it's actually the dark that scares you and not like.. being alone as someone mentioned.
Uhm wait.. firstly.. are you always afraid of the dark? Like.. Are you afraid of it when you're alround friends? How about.. in your room or something? Are you scared of it there too?

I am always afraid of the dark. It's nothing I'm ashamed of, nor will I attempt to fix it. What I need is to be accepted. That's all.

They probably do accept it. I accept it. But dude, when ya gotta feed the bunnies, you gotta feed the bunnies. :p
Basically, yeah... you're gonna have your fears. But in life you're gonna have to do shit you don't want to do. Just because you're afraid of the dark, doesn't give you a magical pass for it to be kept away from you at all times.

I am always afraid of the dark. It's nothing I'm ashamed of, nor will I attempt to fix it. What I need is to be accepted. That's all.
So you're basically sitting back and saying 'I don't care if people think it's better that I confront my problems, I'd rather just gain acceptance and not have people judge me on it'.
Dude, get a grip. What you're afraid of, is pretty common, you're not going to find many people who haven't ever in their entire life been afraid of the dark. It's an evolved bodily response to a situation where you feel unsure of what's around you, also to make up for a weakened sense of sight your other senses sharpen. We're all a little unsure when in a dark room, or a dark place. But if you're particularly uncomfortable with it and think it might be a phobia, for your own self-satisfaction you should, through gradual stages, tackle it.
You can get rid of this, trust me... getting over a fear isn't some sort of pipe dream. You just have to escape this delusion that this is your father/sister's fault, because... really, it doesn't look like it at all.

I used to be terrified of the dark - and my friend is still kinda scared of it.
You really need to just confront the fear, and move on. Sure murders happen in the dark, but they also happen in the daylight. What are the real possibilities of a murder coming up to you when you feed the rabbits? Probably low - I would think.
My fear was always that some big animal would get me. It took a few years, but I am mostly over that fear. Sometimes it still comes up, but I tell myself that the probability of that happening are so slim, that it is not going to happen. I am a hunter know, and go out on the woods before daylight so it does play with my mind sometimes. But I have decided that the chances of anything happening are much less than me winning the PowerBall lottery - so we are good.
Hope you think it all through and work a way around this fear.

I'm not afraid of the dark...I'm afraid of what's lurking in it(outside...inside im cool with the dark)
Like the ocean...if I can't see under me I'm not out there!
