It is a bit strange, I will admit. People should have friends their own age, if not at least somewhat close to their age. When I was fourteen I did date an 18 year old so I can't really say much along the lines of it being wrong.
Just keep your relationship as friends and ONLY friends! It's best for you and her both.

When it comes to platonic friendships, age should not be a factor,
I'd agree that when it comes to others, they would give plenty of comments if they themselves find that you hanging with someone younger, or older is something awkward.
But it comes down to yourself, its great to have friends of a wider spectrum, to learn from different directions.
Quoting myself
Getting mixed with younger people, gives you knowledge of where the next generation is coming from,
While mixing with the older , gives you insight and wisdom , where you do not gain at your current standing.
Its a good thing to be opened up to friends of a wide spectrum, and learn from their experiences,
But the caution of mixing with the right friends still preceeds.
People are generally cunning and some may end up using you without you knowing, thats what they always say about opening the doors to strangers.
Its a double edged sword, but used with caution can prove a lethal weapon.
Remembering that nothing venture nothing gain. There is much to learn, and even more to understand from your social circle.
As far as it is, the sky's the limit.
Ignore what others say, comments are like assholes, and everyone has at least 1. While sadly others have more than one.
Make friends wisely.
Good Luck

Nope, it's perfectly okay.
I'm 16, and my best friend is 23. It's like we're both the same age, it just doesn't matter. As long as it doesn't bother you two, there's nothing wrong with it. (:

As long as your comfortable with it, it's your friendship not theirs. People will always talk no matter what. If it's not age, it's how much money they have, it's race, It's size whatever.
I'm 15 and many of my freinds are 17 or 18 already. Not as a big of a difference as you have stated but ppl still give looks. Just ignore them

It can be strange and not common and most likely your friends dont see the "attraction" (not physical) to hand out wit a 13/14 year old, thats why they are taking the piss really.
Just ignore them

I think we need to be careful with the word "should" - it implies a lot of judgement.
In reality, this is Travis' choice: if he feels comfortable or uncomfortable, then that is what he will probably find most benefit from settling and acting on.

Assuming that the friendship remains platonic in nature, with no intention of sexual, or instigating of wider offenses in the eyes of the law, guess it's perfectly alright.
He may look up to you, as an elder brother and a role model for certain behavioral and characteristic traits; be it good or bad, which may implicate in certain matters. But as long as you conduct yourself properly, I'm sure theres little to worry about.

It's strange but my deal us if youre cool to chill and talk with then its all good.
Stupid and annoying people of any age are the issue.

I don't see a problem with it.
Whetever it's 15, 6 or 80. I think it's good to have friends in different ages, you can learn a lot from eachother, share experiences and such.

Yea, parents seem to get mad when their kid hangs with someone way younger then them, it's dumb, but Age shouldnt be a factor in a friendship, but just keep it a friendship, that's all, no emotional attachment
