View Full Version : What's after death?

What do you think happens after death?
I think (I'd like to think) there's simply nothing after death. Like before you were born. You simply do not exist. There is no thought, no light, no memories, no joy, no misery because you don't exist anymore. That would be perfect for me. But that's just what I think.
But imagine if death meant you were alive but unmoving. Imagine if you could feel the coffin, the dirt being poured over your face. Being burnt into crisps and existing in a little pot. Imagine if you still thought. The horrific memories playing over and over in your head. Makes suicide seem a lot less attractive.
So what do you think happens after death? Nothing? Heaven? Hell? Summerland? Reincarnation?

I'd like to believe that when you die, there is no heaven or hell. The spirit is released from the physical body. I also believe in re-incarnation. The spirit stays around for a while, to finish their unfinished business. This may be looking after a loved one ect. This might take 2 hours or even two-thousand years, but when they have finished, they leave the spirit world into the next life. Then it all happens again. Its an endless cycle.
The body in the coffin in the ground, or the ashes in the plinth are just the physical remains. The person is not attached to them anymore. The spirit may hang around the grave site, or they may hang around family for a while, or they may pass straight on to the next life.
Thats what I believe in, anyway.

That's nice, I guess. I was raised a buddhist and all my relatives believe in reincarnation. Then I converted into Wicca and I thought... Spirit was the trunk, branches out into 2, the God and Goddess, then the 4 Elements, then the "minor" deities like Venus, Zeus, Jesus, whatever. Then from there, little branches which are families and leaves on these branches. We're the leaves. We grow, wither, then die and become fertiliser. Then become part of the tree again, you get what I mean? But we're not us... We're just... Energy.
Now I kind of think that. But I think, since we just turn into energy(because everything in this world is recycled, nothing new is created and nothing disappears. It just becomes something else. So, since we're energy, we don't exist. We're just like... Air. Fire. No thought, no being. Just nothing. We don't exist. Not in our previous forms. No mind so no thought.
Did that make sense?

To be honest, I think that when you die, that's it. No more. No heaven, hell, afterlife, spirits... just the way it was before you were born.
Just my opinion. I can't back it up in any way. Really, no one can back their opinion up on this subject, because there is no way of knowing.

not true you either get buried or cremated or whatever and your body starts decomposing and stuff. I think they've done studies on that...

No one is sure, until you die, which, when you do die, you can't exactly tell anyone.
No one knows for sure what happens, so the human being has ideas, and no theory can be proven or disproven for fact.
I agree with you that there is nothing to suggest that anything happens afterwards, but people are entitled to have their beliefs on it.

I like to believe that there's either heaven or hell. I honestly just don't like to die and then nothing... I think it's just easier for me to accept death as a way of going some place else and not just disappearing but everyone has their own opinion and this is just mine. :)

Honestly, I really don't see how there can possibly be a heaven or hell. But that's just my opinion. People used to think gods were in the sky but we've travelled into outer space. There is no god. Just the atmosphere and the solar system. We know the earth is made up of layers of sedimentary rock and whatnot. So there isn't really anywhere for you to go.
But everyone is entitled to their beliefs.

I believe in reincarnation. A few years ago in a street I used to live in there was a little boy who stayed a few houses along the road and mine and his mum got on quite well and i was over at their house quite alot, but one day this little boy started talking about his previous life on an island called Barra, just off the coast of Scotland, he was talking about a black and white sheep dog, a big white house, all the surroundings of the house and all that kind of stuff. A few months later this had been told to the media of what this young boy was talking about and Channel 5 (UK) I think it was went out to his house and filmed a documentary about it, and him and his mum spoke about it to the TV Cameras. He had also told of how he had died on that island (by drowning I think) and then he fell into his mums stomach over here.
They all went to Barra on a trip (him, his family and the Channel 5 crew that were filming) they went to a house where he had said he had lived and of course it was a white house, with the exact surroundings that he had described he also went on to look at pictures and in one picture there was a black and white sheep dog and he said that it was his dog, they also done some research to a young boy dying on the island from an accident like drowning as said above ^ and they found one and im not 100% sure but I think it was around a year before he was born in Glasgow. Anyway thats all I can remember from the show but it is quite weird and creepy but fascinating in a way that he had told of this story and nearly all of it matched to the things in Barra.
If any of you have watched this programme about him before when it was aired then correct me if I got anything wrong about it. If you haven't, I suggest you look it up, I think it was called "The Boy who lived before"

Well, when you die, I like to think that you can make a choice. You can relive your life, and make any changes to it that you didn't think of before, or you can let your spirit move on and after that, you'll be reincarnated into your next life.
Maybe I'm just crazy... :D

I want to believe that there is a heaven and a hell, cause I want to go to heaven, and some people I know NEED to go to hell. But idk. I hope that there is no reincarnation because Global Warming is going to wipe us all out, and I don't want to be alive when the Earth is a desert, and the ocean is boiling, and everyone is dying right in front of my eyes. I want to die and go to heaven, but I don't know if thats the truth.

Well, if there is definitely a hell, why is heaven only classified as a "maybe"? Don't all things have their opposites? By this logic, you're saying that, no matter how you lived your life, you'll go to hell anyway since heaven MIGHT exist and it MIGHT NOT exist.
This isn't a kid forum, we can all have a good idea what hell would be like if it were real. We're not three.

When God found out we had the capability to fly, he moved heaven upwards until he was satisfied we'd never reach him alive.
Until studies start producing results that suggest legit life after death, it's safe to assume there is nothing. Same as before you were born. It's technically something everyone's experienced already, so why worry about it in the future?

Well, if he's somewhere in outer space... I really doubt it. Why would this almighty being(if there was one) just sit around, watching billions of people live their tiny little lives, anyway? How could he or she or it even be able to? But that's simply my views on it.
I just think it's like before you were born.
I have my views on hell. But because this is a kid friendly forum will not discuss them :)

I think we're mature enough to handle whatever views you have on hell. If there were a hell, I think there'd be a heaven. Cause there's white and black. We have North and a South pole. There is earth and there is air. Fire and water. Trees have roots that mirror the visible branches.
There is always something balancing something else. If there weren't, the scales would tip. If you believe in hell so strongly, there should be a heaven.
What makes you think there's a hell, anyway? I think we're all curious to know.
I want to believe that there is a heaven and a hell, cause I want to go to heaven, and some people I know NEED to go to hell.
How do you know you won't go to hell? You've done "wrong" as well. There is no "pure evil" nor is there "pure good" because who knows what good and evil is.
<----------------------->
I'm not trying to kick back at all of your beliefs. These are merely my views on death. How can there be a hell and a heaven if there is no "pure good" or "pure evil"? What is wrong and what is right? Some things are "obvious" but if you were to kill your father to save your mother? Would you go to hell for killing or heaven for saving? Suicide? Hell or heaven? Would you go to hell for cutting? Hell if you were born schizophrenic or whatever and you end up hurting someone? No one's done "good" all their lives. Nor has anyone done only bad. The people we hate and believe should go to hell, may be saints to another. They may think the same of us. People killing "in the name of religion"? Do they go to heaven or hell?
Anyway, there has been no proof of anything other than rotting or turning to ashes or having your organs donated.
Not bashing any of your beliefs here. This is an opinion. If you have a good comeback, shoot.

And what determines which you go to? You're not meant to kill. But what if it were manslaughter? What if you did what was "wrong" because you thought it was "right"? What if you punched your father because he was a sick pedophile?
Where is this heaven and hell anyway? Not in the blue sky. Not under the earth. Is it invisible? Then if it is, how the hell did someone find out it existed?
You know, in modern times, if someone were to come to you and say "God spoke to me. I'm the next prophet", you'd be "Wtf are you on?" and they'd be locked up in a psychiatric ward in 2 days.
Once again, I am not saying your religious beliefs are wrong. This is simply an opinion. You are entitled to your beliefs. If you don't like what you see, don't read. Or come up with something better.

It ok. ^^ and sorry for being a d!ck about it. I've beleived in heaven and hell every since I could talk. And I've been trying to make it to heaven my whole life. You honestly have to think we HAVE to go somewhere right??? This world will come to an end eventually so the reincarnation thing is out of the question. I just always found it funny when people argue over these things. Lets just worry about life and when we die THEN we can worry about what happens to us.

Yeah but the thing is. If there's a heaven and hell or even reincarnation for that matter, no way in hell am I killing myself. No way. I might as well just live through this and get it done and over with. Honestly, I'm kind of bias. I don't want to believe there's an afterlife just as some don't want to believe there isn't.
Why would anyone want to live for eternity? Why would you want to think, see, touch, feel, hear for forever? Why would you want the memories to replay, over and over and over? Why would you never want to rest?
Anyway, what's heaven? A place of eternal happiness, where everything you envision comes true and you grow wings? I don't think there's such a thing is constant pure joy. Unless god gives his angels crack. Then I understand.

Put simply, I believe that nothing happens when you die, you are just done. You don't feel anything, see anything, know anything. You don't exist. Your body does, but YOU don't, if that makes sense.
But a small, tiny part of me wishes that there's something more. The dreamer part of me. Just because as fascinating the idea of death is, I don't want life to end sometimes.

Me. September 5th 1996. Jokes. I agree with you.
I think most people just make that stuff up because they want to think this isn't the end and they get to live forever. They want to think theres a happy place for them, that life o's worth all the crap. And they want to send people they hate to hell. So they tell it to their kids so they act right and they tell it to old people and soldiers so they don't freak. And they tell it to themselves so they have something to believe in.
No offense to anyone here. But most of us see what we want to see.
