There was this guy I was friends with in 2nd grade, but sometime in the middle of second grade we both started to hate each other ( I forgot why, but it was for some weird 2nd grade reason) . It stayed like that until we graduated elementary school. I didn't have to see him a lot for three years (I saw him once in 6th, he almost ran into me with a bike and was like 'ohh...' sort of disgusted and I rolled my eyes and kept walking) A few months ago, he friended me on facebook, I just assumed he didn't realize who I was because A) I don't look the same and B) I go by Ani on Facebook, and so I didn't say yes or no. I saw him a store a few hours ago, and I inwardly groaned. I pulled out my phone, and stared at it and walked by fast. He got my attention and said "Hey Daniella!!" really cheerfully (Some people might be confused, because I've mentioned before that my name was Ginnella. It isn't. I just really liked the name at the time..) I was so confused at first, because I thought he wouldn't recognize me or if he did he'd just ignore me. Anyway, I said and waved hi back, smiled, and left.
As I was walking home, I was just thinking about how about two years prior, if he saw me he would have curled up his nose, made some crude comment, and walked away. That experience taught me to give people the benefit of the doubt. Also, to give people a second chance. Just because they acted a certain way towards you a few years earlier, it doesn't mean they're the same now. That's something take with me for the reast of my life.
