Right so i'm on the waiting list for councelling with CAMHS. I've had councelling with them before for suicide attempts and self harm, but not my ED. Does anyone have any idea what i should expect? Thank you.

Mmm... I've been to 5 different psychiatrists/psychologists/counsellors/hypnotherapists etc for ED treatment... They'll try to find out how it started. The anxiety and where it came from. They'll ask you when it started. How you're getting along with others, school etc. If you feel you need to control anything. Your childhood, family. That kind of thing. They never really focused on whether I found myself fat or ugly or anything. They mostly focused on the underlying reasons behind it.
Good luck :) Skinny is not worth the consequences. And recovery is possible. Life is so much better once you're free of your eating disorder. I'm here if you ever need someone or if you have questions.
Love,
Faith and Trust
EDIT: Oh and they may also challenge you to eat more. Like, "Take that extra spoonful" etc

I went to CAMHs for a while but for my Body dysmorphia not an ED.
My friend however did, although she was so severe she had a crisis team. I don't know exactly what happened prior to that. My guess is they will try CBT [cognitive behavioural therapy], look into whether you want to antidepressants, encourage family therapy.
The adult clinic I'm meant to go to soon said they'll do an intial weigh in and height check, blood tests and ECG [to check your heart] also want you to keep a food diary. Then its a team of counsellors, pyschiatrists, dieticians and nursing staff. Who will all sort of co-operate to try and help you.
Hope thats a help.

They may start CBT. But I assume you've done that already, as well? :) My hypnotherapist put me in a trance.

I found they tried to encourage family therapy a lot, just to try to get me seeing food as a positive thing? If that makes sense. Also CBT. It's just lots of questions really, they try to get you thinking about food in a different way and analysing your relationship with it. Good luck!

I only had about 4 councelling sessions last time before I was told I couldn't be helped. >< SO it wasn't exactly CBT I was given.
I guess i'll see. Thanks for all your replies :)
