I read it last year in my english class and I loved it! It is, by far, one of the best books I have ever read. How far are you in it? It definately gets better as the story continues. I don't want to ruin it for you, so I won't. lol we can talk about it after you've finshed.
ps...when you're done reading it, I recommend that you see the movie Equilibrium..the one with Christian Bale...ohhhh it's sooo good.

I've read up to the part after he goes to the Proles area for the first time and gets offered to stay at the guys shop. Thanks for not ruining it for me. I'll probably have it finished soon.

Its an absultly brilliant book.
Its very scary when you think about it. The way it was written in the 40's and he is going on about mass survalience, then you look at the world today, we are constantly being watched. Brilliant book.

My favorite part was probably room 101 because you got to learn all about the Party when O'Brien explains it all.
I had a lot of hope for Winston and Julia though I knew they couldn't stand a chance against the Party. I actually predicted Winston to die but he becomes a sheep and brainwashed. It was crazy how he thought after he was released from the Ministry of Love. Caring about a bogus war and loving big brother.
This book does raise a good point of remembering to be a free thinker and don't become brainwashed about the media. To check stuff out and don't believe everything you see on the news.

I love that book. If you enjoy it, read/watch the film Das experiment, a bit violent, but very good, and based on a weird story. It goes into how the nazi soldiers could do what they did in the war.
