Now I'm a very devoted christian and I try my best to keep control of myself but I still end up looking up porn like every 3 to 4 weeks. And I masturbate once a day. Noww is it bad that I masturbate with me being a christian? I've heard it is but idk :confused:

Well, not being a Christian or anything, I don't know what's considered a 'sin'. But personally, I do not consider masturbating to be a sin, or see why it could be. I don't believe there's anything wrong with masturbating either.

So, in answer to your question, I wouldn't say it's bad at all. Surely people of all religions do it. :)

if you are looking up porn and masturbating then yeah it's wrong because if you think about it, you are basically masturbating to that person. just think if you were in a porn video and thousands of people are masturbating to your picture. i masturbate about 3 times a week and I'm a christian. If you look at the science side of it, it's a stress relief and it prevents prostate cancer (so I've heard) but if you are not looking at porn and masturbating then no it's not wrong. Like I said I try not to look at porn, I can ignore that urge, but I can't ignore the urge to masturbate. We as humans are going through major bodily changes during puberty and (I have now idea where I heard this either) but we have no choice but to masturbate. So it is not wrong depending on the situation.

And Yes, stupidly masturbating is considered as a sin by many christians but! Its is only when your masturbating to porn or thinking of a girl/guy in some sexual way and getting horny over it, only then is where lust comes and takes over. Lust is a sin if you didnt know.

Not a Christian, but I've heard that some of the reform Evangelists accept it, so long as you don't watch porn and jack off to your future wife or something. In most Western religions (Judaeo-Christian = Islam, Judaism, Christianity), it is seen as an unclean taboo. It is seen as corrupting something pure created by God. Now in reality masturbation is quite natural. Why would it feel good then? Why does sex feel good? If we are truly created by "God", and such a thing is so impure, then why can we derive pleasure from masturbation?

I spent like an hour trying to find this question and I got this. As long as you dont commit lustful thoughts ur fine, I think. But there is like nothing in the bible about it. Also if it keeps you from committing fornication, I think god would rather you masterbate.

I don't know how true this is, but the reason I have heard that it's a sin, is because you are "spilling your seed". Personally, I think that excuse is a load of hooey.

By definition, a Christian is someone who believes in God and Jesus. And He would want us to enjoy our bodies (within reason), right? After all, He made us in his image.

The way I look at it, in 2011, if some Christian churches can accept being gay, then certainly they can accept some harmless self indulgence. :yeah:

This is the most powerful for me. Your body is the temple if the Holy Spirit. It almost makes me think of masturbating as doing it in a church.*

Hey buddy, masturbation and pornography are tough issues. Pornography is obviously wrong because Jesus said that whoever looks upon a woman(or anyone for that matter) has committed adultery with her already in his heart. I understand how tough it is to break the habit. I was there once. I'd advise you to seek counseling and install filters, because that's what helped me. Most importantly just keep crying out to God, if He sees your willingness to change, He'll help you for sure. I'd been struggling with this for years but God finally set me free, I've been free since the beginning of June, and let me tell you, God's promises are so much better.

With regard to masturbation, I think it's a sin too. Why do I say that? Because the bible says that whoever that is a disciple of Jesus mist take his cross daily and deny himself, otherwise he won't be fit to follow Jesus! It also says that we must not be mastered by anything, and that we live according to the spirit, not the flesh. I used to think that I had to live with masturbation, but God showed me otherwise. Again, it really feels so much better not being a slave to my desires. Getting rid of the habit has helped me grow so much closer to God. I didn't do it on my own of course, it would certainly have been absolutely impossible for me. It's all thanks to Him, He is so faithful, and He knows what's best for us. He doesn't give us rules for fun you know!

Anyway, if you need anything you can just give me a PM. most people here are atheists. I guess some of them have good intentions and don't want you to experience what they deem as unecessary guilt, which is true to a certain extent, conviction comes from the Holy Spirit, but condemnation comes from the devil who wants to steal, kill and destroy. However, they don't really have a personal relationship with God, so naturally they wouldn't really know what He wants. Of course I'm not perfect either, and I can only give you advice, your best bet would be to seek Him in sincere prayer, fast if you have to, and keep reading the bible, it's God's love letter to you, as you read it you'll learn more and more about Him.
