Well sometimes i use hand lotion and it does go into your skin, but if you use enough it will last long enough.

Yes it is very safe. But stomach acid is the only real thing that disolves. Spit lines the stomach to prevent your insides from desolving from stomach acid. Spit also lubricates the throat and mouth.
Plus the spit doesn't stay there on your dick for very long anyway. I think it's a terrible lube, but whatever makes your cock hard :P
