People are idiots. Just today (first day of school) nearly all the girls decided they should wear trousers because the skirts were impossible to pull up and make short - they started complaining about how they looked like lesbians. All of them.

It's part of gender stereotyping. You shouldn't be surprised, "manliness" has been a staple of the male sex for all of human history; it's only recently that it's been completely flipped over. Social conservatism is what's preventing society's progress to a gender-neutral world.

Also, on a side note, I believe cheerleading and "school spirit" in general are both abhorrent and utterly stupid concepts.

there's nothing wrong with male cheerleaders. nor do I believe that if a guy is a cheerleader, he should be automatically assumed to be gay. that is freaking stupid and ridiculous.

^ I'm with this. It's a strange stereotype. The post about female cheerleaders wearing slacks and feeling like lesbians is hilarious. It shows that the stereotypical view runs across the whole page. I don't know why.
