This version of vb is so far out of date its not true. It makes it difficult for members on more current vb sites because honestly you cant find your way around.
Upgrade?

I do not see how anyone could find it challenging to navigate this forum.

It is the intention of the VT admins to not upgrade. Why? Because vBulletin 4 is crawling with bugs and issues. And, it uses waaaaaay to much jQuery and stuff for my computer. A page on GovTeen takes at least 5 seconds to load here. So it's not going to be used. Sorry.

In the words of Ant, (Maverick) about a similar topic.
Guys, this is a not for profit site that's ad free. Everything can't be in high definition and have all the bells and whistles with the enormous amount of people here. Just be glad for what you have.
And how could it be hard to navigate?

it's fine the way it is. I'm a member on a forum that uses vB5. it's okay, but I don't like it a lot. and I don't see how it's hard to navigate either on VT that uses the older version

If you would like to pay for it, go right ahead, but why should Ant pay for something we don't desperately need?

Can you read threads? Yes.
Can you post in threads? Yes.
Do you still have the forums? Yes.
What's the problem?

Meh, all vB forums I go on are the same or very similar version to VT. I don't see anything wrong, though I have a personal preference for MyBB...
But that's off topic.
Point is, there is nothing wrong the way it is.

Is there any particular function on vB5, which assist in navigation in comparison to the version VT is using, which interest you?
The general posting functions seems to be in order, and i'd suppose thats the skeletal backbone of every forum.
The rest thus making it user friendly.
I may be wrong by saying so, its just my perception of it.

If it ain't broken, don't fix it. It's perfectly fine. Also Nick, you should know this isn't the first thread to pop up about this. It has been discussed publicly before. So don't be the kid who is too lazy to search before he makes a suggestion.

Loads of forums still use vB3.8, it's much easier to use from both an admin and user perspective in my opinion.

Let me ask you something. If a forum is running IPB do you ask them to upgrade to latest VB because you can't find the way around? Would you say on the phpBB support forum to upgrade to latest VB to find your way around? What about the IPB support forum? No.
Why? Because they're different sites for different things. This site is not about vBulletin so I would never see why an upgrade is needed. It is not for support for any thing to do with VB. So no, I do not think an upgrade is needed. If you get confused you ask a staff member or check the FAQ page. Kay? Easy link: http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/faq.php
Kay, cool thanks.

Its good to see this forum still uses 3.8, I don't think it needs to upgrade IMO, maybe when vB 5 comes out. ;)

Not really, depends on the admins level of skills.

I don't see why an upgrade would be especially necessary. And I can't see how it could be hard navigating here at VT.

Given I used the back end of vB 3.7 and 3.8 for about two years, and vB 4 for sixth months ish, I saw many more bugs and problems with vBulletin 4. It wasn't worth the switch and didn't offer any extra functionality that was useful.

Donkey is right. It would simply be irresponsible to upgrade. There is no justification or advantage. Only lots of headache and an ugly interface.
