View Full Version : So...I came out.

Holy cow, I did it. Sort of. Kinda. Well, I'm getting there. Victory rant time. Earlier this summer, after months of wrestling with whether I hated myself, loved myself, or was just confused by myself, I accepted it: I am bisexual. Being curious was probably the worst feeling I've ever had, just because of the anxiety and worry that came with it. Anyway, this summer I told someone for the first time, my formerly best friend. He said he had my back but he didn't agree with it, and that because he was happy, he would never choose to "switch over like [me]." Needless to say, I thanked him for his support, then moved on. I proceded to tell a couple other friends, who merely responded with "Oh? Really? I had no idea. If you need to talk, I'm here. Oh, are we still up for the movies tonight?" The next part was the hardest. I mustered up the courage to tell my girlfriend. I couldn't do it in person, so I left her a message. She sent me the most inspirational, most accepting thing I've ever heard; I broke into tears. Happy tears. After talking with her, and a couple of adults who are gay at a theatre I performed at, I changed my interested in on facebook to men and women. Then is when it felt concrete. Its silly: a post on Facebook thats only visible to a few of the people from school. But the level of acceptance, the knowing who I was, the being proud of me all felt so real. I hope to come out completely before I graduate (I'm a junior now), but the thing that worries me the most is telling my family. But that can wait. Sorry for the lengthy post, but I needed to share. If you read through the whole thing, thanks. Just, thank you. Finally, I am me. Almost.

Congrats, I am still getting there. I am bisexual as well. Only my best friend knows and he has kept it a secret as I told him to do so. I'm going into my Senior year, I don't know if I wanna come out yet because of hockey as we shower after skating. Just the kids on the team would think I want to do things with them... and it would just get awkward. (Although I would like to do with one or two of them =P) Well congrats to you again and I hope you have a good time being you =) I'm just glad I have at least one person that I can completely be myself around.

Thanks so much :)

@Tim, Jeremy, Tristian, and Aaron: I hope you guys are able to tell someone, the self-appreciation and realization from telling somebody who will understand is unbelievable. Do it when you're ready, and remember, if a friend you tell doesn't accept you for who you are, they weren't really a friend in the first place. Wow, that's really cliche, but you get the idea.

@Scurrd: I like cats and chickens? ....oh, I get it ;) haha oh my.

That's great. I'm proud even though I don't know you because it takes a lot of courage. I recently came out as well. I just wish my parents were as accepting as my friends.
