View Full Version : Word Requirement Number

I know that there must be four letters in a post for it to go through, and I agree completely with this rule.

However, is there any way that this could be changed for certain forums? i.e. for P101, instead of someone just getting a +1 post count for saying: "normal", maybe it could be a five or ten word minimum? This would also help deter people from saying the same answer over and over again, because they would have to write more.

in p101 a lot of answers are only 2-3 words needed to explain. It would mix it up a little but again I think it would involve pointless words or someone may just type a load of dots afterwards.

The current system is good as you must admit the answers in p101 only need to be 3-4 words or sometimes just one word

I have to agree, I feel that there are too many yes and no's that keep appearing after the OP has already been answered and I feel that it the post requirment was changed it would deterr such a thing.

Can I ask though, it is p101 I dont think it matters when it comes to detail unless it is like a serious puberty question not just like " Am I normal".

So why should this matter really?

This is sometimes true, but mostly, people can elaborate more than just saying yes your normal. If they put dots after or anything stupid like that, assuming there would be a rule against it officially, then they could be given warnings/infraction points by mods or admins.

This ins't that big of a deal. It's P101. In all honesty, what do you expect from that part of the forum?

9 times out of 10 this is true p101 does have a lot of "yes you are" answers but when first person has given already a detailed explanation then theres no point in everyone saying the exaxct same long winded thing they put yes or no as convience and support if they were all to put the same long winded stuff then it would be all the same and wastes a lot of time

hey it p101 what do you expect

I don't think it needs any tampering with. If there's a problem with a post and or is clearly spam, usually it gets deleted anyway. If it bothers you so much, just don't go looking at the threads.

Let's face it, most of the Virtual Teen population, particularly those of P101, are far from educated enough to properly form any adequate response that has more than one or two words.

Would this apply in the Arcade, most of the answeres are 1 word to begin with and are *meant* to be one word

no. that's why it would be for only certain forums. maybe ROTW is a good one

I disagree with this point.

Whats important would be, people would be taking the effort to elaborate in their post, making it meaningful.

There are many i have seen whom are able to elaborate into the points, given even a question of "Am i normal ? "

It just brings down to the point where if people are willing to think, analyse and reflect before giving an answer.

I feel so implicated, just kidding no offence yea? *smile*
This suggestion is awesome.

The thing is if i do answer a p101 whitch is maybe every now and again I will look at the other replies first and if I see the post already answered well and correct then I will just give it some back up / reasurance.

Its only if the post has had such a little response that I will then explain more if needed but again how is everyone writing a paragrapgh to say the same thing needed.

Its just not needed p101 is a basic forum

Most people are satisfied with the answers

What do you mean by "give reassurance"? Do you write short answers?

What I mean by giving reassurance is by tell the original poster that the answer given by "X" is correct. This does help the original poster and the person who posted said answer.

I give some short answers when required but why should I write say 20 words to just reassure the person who made the orignal post and repeating what someone else said.

Its not a big deal when you think about it.

Also it is only p101 when and if I post in said area it is mostly short and to the point answers as a lot of the time the question has already been answered.
