So as me and my boyfriend were arguing about other issues. i decided i wanted to go home, he wouldn't let me until we sorted it out.
he later decided to tell me (although he tried to put it a lot nicer than this) that the reason he makes sure were all right before i go is to make sure i don't go home and kill myself!
i am not suicidal or have ever been or aver mentioned anything to him about being suicidal.
what the hell am i supposed to do with that?

maybe he doesn't understand cutting and self harm well enough. he might think it is a pre cursor to suicide.

i'm complete guessing. i truly don't understand cutting and self harm myself, but i know people who do this don't exactly always have a desire to die. sometimes they do, and i know it's bad to generalize all into this category. i'd try talking to him and explaining to him that you don't want to die, you just want to be happy and your cutting is an addiction as much as smoking or drug abuse, even over eating. then let him know not all those people are in addiction to kill themselves. a relationship needs to have trust and keeping you somewhere you don't want to be isn't trust.
i think a good, genuine conversation is in order.
