it seems here that almost everyone has experimented with a friend but i never have. is this normal?

It's definitely normal, it's something very objective.
Some people meet people whom are willing to experiment, while others don't.

It's not something you can eazily work on without the right resources.
There is nothing to be shy nor anything to be proud about.

If it happens , it happens.

of course its normal. Some people dont have the opportuinities that others do. Experimenting is not a necessity, I haven't done it sadly :(

Each to their own. Everyone has a different way of doing things. It's normal. Even in the web design world not one person is going to have the same skill levels and experience than any other person. They'll either be higher or lower.
