Just ask her if she wants to go out somewhere, I think just a walk around the park and talking's fun, nothing fancy. And ask then just take it from there?

As you have mentioned she is a friend of a long time, im sure asking her out on a regular outing would not be a difficult issue.
Im sure along with this post, you have pretty much known her for quite abit, and is ready to ask her to progress further into the relationship.
I sense the only obstacle you would be having is nervousness and perhaps alittle fear or rejection.
You may opt to ask her for a regular outing, and on a very personal and quiet time, ask her opinion for a relationship.
Be calm and stay cool, regardless her answer, do not interrogate or be too pushy about it.
Respect her decision at all times, continue to be a supportive boyfriend/best friend , regardless of the result.
Displaying your feelings honestly to her would be the best option you have.
There is no right or wrong way, play by ear and move with the flow of the outing.
All the best, Good luck
