How do you get REP Points?

Okay, reputation points. An annoying topic, but you gain these by contributing to the community in a way that people find helpful, or funny, or rude. Yes, you can go up by being rude. Don't do it though, because no one likes you. Only Sage and Deadpie can pull that off. Seriously, don't try it, your red bar will become more red. Very red. Very. Fucking. Red.

But if you post something, anything at all, other members then have three options.

A. Ignore you because your post was insignificant or you're just not worth their time. This is the most common.
B. Give you negative reputation because you're either a dumbass, off-topic, or offended them.
C. Give you positive reputation because you made a superb post, helped someone, inspired someone, or made them laugh... very fucking hard.

BUT I say this. So listen close. Closer. Much closer. Reputation doesn't mean shit. It's just a tacky green box that shows how often "the big guys" laugh at you.

I doubt that. If Sage regularly gave reputation to his admirers then half the members would have rep power almost as high as his. There are loads of Sage wannabes.
