Got the idea from the Greatest metal singer poll.Which guitarist is in your opinion the best?And why?

That's okay. He's my hero though. Randy Rhoads is also a legend. The guitarist from Metallica also deserves to be in the poll, he has killer solos, but he is a bit overrated... I mean the band is. lol but still have great songs.

Those guys can't even compare to either of these guys. But of course, I'm sure there are better guitarists than these guys, but they destroy every one on that list.

If I were to pick, Richie Sambora. Sure he may not be the omgfastest player ever but he's my favorite and he's incredibly talented.

Off that list, I picked Randy Rhoads just out of sheer talent. And for the record I think Slash is incredibly overrated.

On list: Hendrix or Santana

Off list: Guthrie Govan

He never ceases to amaze me because he's reached a reasonably epic level in guitar playing in so many genres. If you leave it up to Slash to play something he's not qualified for like, Jazz or Blues, he'd look like an idiot or just not be able to play it well. If you told Guthrie to jam to Death's Spirit Crusher, he'd make teenage dirtbag fanboys bust their bags in a heartbeat.

Not totally guitar LEGENDS, like Slash or Jimi Hendrix, but I'd say that Ray Toro from My Chemical Romance takes it off :D

Going to have to say Frank Zappa. Easily the most creative, technical, and craziest guitarist in his times and still lives on like that.

damn this was a tough one! lol i had to make a decision between Van Halen, Rhoads and Iommi :(!!! i picked Van Halen, though he is definately not the greatest, he is the best that i have on mind at this very moment :D.
however i think this list is lacking more epik guitarists like: Jimmy Page, David Gilmour and Pete Townshend...

Where the hell is Brian May of Queen????

I picked Slash, the man can play. Sure, not as influential as Hendrix or EVH or Clapton, but he took the concepts that all of them started and perfected them. And he was in GNR and Velvet Revolver, 2 of the best bands ever. that's enough for me.

About list... emm Slash is great but Greatest guitarist of all time is Yngwie Johann Malmsteen I think.
