My friend has spent all summer online mostly, pretending to be someone he isn't. He is an anime type, and has joined a community on Youtube where people Roleplay with Anime and the like. I would be fine with this if it wasnt taking over his whole social life, and he stays up all night online and sleeps during the day.. I am his only friend in real life, and I think he uses this second life online to cover up this fact. I want him to realise that there is more to life than this... please can anyone advise me on how to pursuade him that he is going to have to stop so he doesnt waste his teenage years living a lie?

I would but... I HATE sports xD I generally do things like acting and singing, but I don't think he would be bothered or anything anyway..

I feel its ok to spend alittle time in roleplay, there are times in life its better to live a lie.
But being too immerse in it would be alittle unhealthy.
I suggest not directly telling him off, but lead him to other healthier activites, going to the mall, sports.
Directly confronting him, may push him deeper into the world he feels accepted.
The reason he is doing this is likely because he feels he is a hero in the world he is in.
Keeping him occupied with these activites would be a way to reduce his dependency in roleplay, constant positive supportive from you is what he needs.
Good luck

I dont think you should do anything. The reason is sooner or later he will learn to deal with this and only do it in modreation. Its a life skill that needs to be mastered and controlled.
He will learn just give it time...This will be an imprortant lesson for him

Usually this kind of person would not react well to that. Acting sounds like a good thing he might like, He already enjoys acting out other characters. He could be doing it in Drama club or something making real friends.
Not Everyone likes Sports >.<
