Scene: you are renovating your bathroom and your bestfriend is a renovator. You know he needs the money, but u also know he is the laziest person u know and that if u hire him, it will take FOREVER for him to finish.
Do you hire him anyway knowing he needs the money? or do you hire someone who is reliable but will cost you more money?

it depends on the opportunity cost of when i need the room. if i need the room asap..say if i'm trying to sell my house and i need the room to be awesome and ready for a viewing...i'm not going to hire my friend. he's a lazy bum..his laziness will hurt me and my potential business.....
however, if i need the room...like a few months or two down the road....i wouldn't mind hiring my friend...he's a lazy ass...but, theoretically, i have pleanty of time...as in a few months or two for the room to be completed
huh...i guess it all depends on how soon i need the room.

well i mean u wouldnt want someone to take months on a room that should only take a week or 2 to complete.

it all depends on when i need the room...he's my friend, but he's lazy...it just depends on how soon i need it...sure it would be nice to have him do it...if it is ok for me to give him all the time he intends to drag it out

Hmmm, I'd hire him, and tell him he had two weeks to complete it, and if he didn't I would not pay him, and then if he could not finish it in the two weeks, I would buy someone better.
BTW when I read the title of this thread I thought it would have something to do with a hitman lmao!

Hire him, and put an emphasis on finishing it in a reasonable amount of time.

Hire him and say he's got three weeks or you'll pay someone else.
Only because if he feels rushed, he'll get sloppy.

then why would you hire him? it's going to get sloppy because he will be rushed, right?

If I'm putting good money into something I will look for the best. Sorry bud but if you were my friend you'd be making sure I'd get a good job done and if your reputation proves otherwise tough!

I wouldnt have real good friends who are lazy.. And if he was realy in dire need I'd just give him some money.. And hire somone else who isn't a lazy bastard
But in my family everyone is practicly in some kind of construction so it wouldnt be hard to find someone good ;P
