For a present after my GCSE results im going to get some good headphones..
Can anyone recommend some good in ear headphones, i was looking at Beats By Dre http://store.universal-music.co.uk/restofworld/ibeats/beats-by-dre-ibeats-black-high-performance-in-ear-headphones/invt/78200754/
but im not sure if they are worth it from all the hype...
Any opinions on Beats By Dre or any other recommendations would be appreciated?

In all honesty, I'm not familiar with them. But if you want a high quality headphone, go with bose. They're known for their good sound systems and headphones and I've never heard better headphones.

I tend not to go for in-ear headphone, they're just not my type. But I have the Dr. Dre Studio beats, I know the retail for some-where £270-300 which is a lot of money, I managed to get my pair new off e-bay for £110, i was quite lucky. But I'd definitely recommend them even though they have a high price point, they have noise-cancellation which is absolutely great if you travel a lot, I recently went on holiday I put those headphones on and didn't hear a thing for the whole flight. The sound quality is superb and is much better than any other headphones I have tested, there are also the Solos by Dre, I however, do not recommend these due to i think they're uncomfortable but at the end of the day it's personal preference.
That's just my 2 cents,
Have a good day.

Pffft, Beats? Save your money kiddo. I got an excellent pair (http://av.jvc.com/product.jsp?modelId=MODL028672&pathId=162&page=1) of JVC earbuds for only about $65. The noise cancellation is flawless- In my personal experience, I was able to completely block out a party full of drunken eastern europeans at my house, so I'd say they're pretty great. In addition to the noise cancellation, it's pretty hard for anyone else to hear what you're listening to, even at very high volumes. Sound quality is amazing and they're definitely affordable. You'd be a sucker to go with anything else.

The fact that you actually considered buying Beats by Dr. Dre confirmed your idiocy therefor I am not even going to bother to convince you to save your money cause you honestly don't deserve it.

try some wicked audio jawbreakers. they are like $30 and in my opinion better than beats, they have great bass and they feel really good in your ear.

Beats are good, but you're paying for the name.
If you're looking for average quality, I recommend Sony. Honestly, they seem to last the longest. I've had many skullcandies before, but it becomes irritating sending them off to be replaced every couple of months.
If you're looking to go higher quality, I recommend Bose or Senheizer.

A friend has Sennheisers and I have used them right next to my Beats (Studios). They are both the same sound and performance wise, the only difference I noticed was the noise suppression. The Sennheiser had a different sort of sound to it's noise suppression, as weird and contradictive as it sounds. My friend and I both agree the Beats look better and perform just as well.
I don't have any experience with the type your talking about, but I couldn't be happier with mine and I'm considering upgrading to a pair of Detox editions just too see if it can get better, which would be pretty damn hard.

Have in-ears from Sony right now, had them for pretty much everyday use (even in bed, sleeping) for 1-1,5 years, I think, and they're still as good as if I bought them yesterday. Before I got them (only like 15 dollars or something, lol) I had to get new headphones like every month because all sucked.

I have skullcandy. Everyone thinks they are beats. But I like skullcandy. The only problem with them is if ur walking and the wire bangs against u, you'll hear a thud in your ears.

In my opinion Beats are very overrated,I had them and now don't use them anymore.I highly recommend Ultimate Ears (used by lots of musicians),but the beats are still pretty good.

Oh god, I am so getting these. I have a really average pair of Sony headphones (http://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDRNC7-WHI-Canceling-headphones/dp/B001EYU3LC/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1316932798&sr=8-2) that were the same price. The sound quality is average, and they're pretty uncomfortable. Not worth the price up against this.

There is nothing better than Bose. I have a nice set of Bose noise canceling headphones from 3 years ago that's in good condition, and sound better than a newish pair of Beats headphones.
Note: these aren't in-ear one that I'm conparing, however Bose in ear ones are pretty good.

I bought a nice pair of ear buds for just $4 from gamestop a few days ago. So far they are great but I know from experience they will break in a month.

not sure what you have in the UK but me I've been using my phones headphones (INQ touch) but good brands i've had are phillips.
the thing with me and headphones is I'm not one of these audiophiles that has to have the latest and the greatest.
in ear I use phillips, skull candy, or my phones headphones and for big headphones I use sony MDR-XD200's

Bose, Sennheiser, Klipsch are all great for in-ears.
I've had Bose in-ears for 3 years, and they're great, except I put them through the washing machine so... no so much any more.

DO NOT GET BEATS OR BOSE!
Very over-rated and very expensive. You could get that quality in a pair half the price. UE's, Grado, and some JH's. I have a guilty pleaure for a very minute selection of sennheisr. Don't go for looks, go for the reputation they get from audiophiles.

I have a pair of Westone UM1s. They sound great, but judging from your affinity forth beats, I'm going to assume you want a lot of bass. The Westones don't have extra bass, but they have enough to sound good. The build quality is solid and the comfort is amazing. They block outside noise to the point where I can be in a bowling alley on a Friday night when they have the music so loud you have to scream to be heard, and I can't hear anything but my music. I highly recommend you check them out.
